I wonder how this compares to Logic’s audio to midi function? Apart from not having to use the command line
They have hundreds of millions of minutes of audio uploaded to their service and a (likely) flexible contract on what they can do with people's music. They may be testing the waters of transitioning into a new field, like Facebook into VR, after reaching a critical capacity of listners.
As a software developer, I know that Spotify has a reputation for process innovation, which I assume leads to high quality software. The publication of their Spotify Agile Model was very influential a decade ago. Backstage, their opensource framework for creating developer portals, is a solid offering that they contributed to CNCF.
In terms of their music business, I know they've been trying to improve their for-artist services.
