GO-TO AU MIDI SEQUENCER ........
What is similar to Genome by which a user can play and record notes or modulation via just a record button?
AND HELLO FAMILY!

Welcome back!
I can highly recommend Drambo V2.
A whole lot of new functionality has been added to the sequencing engine.
Yup, Drambo.
Welcome back @RUST( i )K
For just record and playback, with no editing, Midi Tape Recorder is excellent - and free.
Does Drambo have a 16bar limit?
To answer @RUST( i )K AU only I’d recommend Atom2 - not sure how good it is for modulation tho. Not AU but Xequence 2 is the best for notes & modulation that I know of on iOS
HTH, thanks 😺
64 bars per pattern. (Sorry, I was thinking beats, not bars)
Atom 2 can record automation but not edit it, and it isn't really up to accurate MPE recording and playback. But for pure laying down of notes and playing them back it's great.
Considering Genome is standalone too, Xequence 2 is a good answer to this question as well.
Helium fully supports automation editing. It was meant to be a "high priority" for Atom 2 after release but then again it was supposedly 'on the roadmap' for Atom 1 too but was never delivered. It's 15 months since Atom 2 launched now so my working assumption is that it's not going to happen but still hoping to be proven wrong...
Helium's a great alternative though...
Imaginado LK Midi Sequencer. Can do both notes and modulation.
This and Drambo are the best options currently.
+1.
And LK has silently brought us so many features that we hoped ATOM 2 would provide soon after its release.
Hi!

+1
Drambo and LK fit my current creative mode the best.
Just had another look at LK. Really is excellent. Thanks for mentioning!
Clip actions are a sweet underrated features of LK. Yeah, LK is basically what Atom 2 could've been.
Thanks for the clarification @wim 👍 I didn’t know Drambo could do 64bars - I’m relearning it, but I haven’t seen a way to extend a pattern beyond 16bars..
Also, Helium is another good choice like you say, I haven’t used it much, but it looks to be v.powerful 🎛
Oh shit. Brain fart.
The limit is 64 beats, not bars. Sorry.
🤦🏻♂️
Oh btw, and LK supports up to 999 bars per clip.
In one of the many updates, last year the piano roll performance had been improved dramatically so even complex arrangements can be navigated smoothly.
Superb devs @ imaginando, I have to say.
