In the "mode" list on the left hand side, when I increase the random function, is everything being randomised? Is it possible to just randomise, for example, the notes being played? Or the gate? @cem_olcay

    Any thoughts on this? Anyone?

You can try MelodyBud if you want to randomise everything or specific steps with the parameter locks.

Thanks @cem_olcay - however I think you’ve misunderstood my question. When I select randomise, what is being randomised? Just the notes played?

Oh yeah, the randomiser just randomise the notes in PolyBud.

I’m not get any randomization here, not sure why. Love the app, very inspiring!

Edit: it’s working for me now, rack it up to operator error

I’m curious about this as well. I know it randomizes notes but I thought I heard ratchets in it as well..

  • Thanks for the updates @cem_olcay

Ok cool. Thanks. Have been enjoying it so much. An awesome app!

Yep, I added 2/1 (double whole), 1-Bar, 2-Bar and 4-Bar rates to the sequencer with a few minor fixes. The update will be available in the next couple of days I guess.

    Great addition!

If you added the “note offset” parameter I described above this would also allow transposition by bar, 2 bars etc. Maybe it should be called a “transpose” parameter to better describe what it does.

Its soooo useful. Pretty please Cem!

Actually, you can create a CC track and modulate the PolyBud’s Key AU parameter and transpose the sequence.

Thanks for pointing that out - tried it and it works but I didn’t get the musical result I was looking for.

A note offset is different since the result is quantized to the current scale vs transposing to a new root. It’s a neat way of introducing variations to the sequence that repeat at a rate determined by the relative lengths of the note and offset tracks.

Could be done with Mozaic but it would be easier to set up if there was an offset AU parameter in PolyBud. That way it wouldn’t clutter the UI.

  • Sorry, another question; I'd like to use Polybud to make very slow, drone music. I have set the tempo way down, to 30 or 40 bpm but what I want to do is have any note that is triggered play until the next note occurs, like a legato mode I guess. Anyone know how I could achieve this in Polybud? Or is it a case of doing this within the settings of whatever synths I use?
    Hopefully that makes sense.

Hey, @cem_olcay , I’ve really enjoyed using Polybud but I’ve run into a couple issues.

I set up a session in AUM with two instances of Polybud. One for notes and a 2nd for CCs. I have the CCs in the 2nd one controlling the key, scale and rate of the 1st Polybud. That is working well. But when I decided to make a new ‘pattern’ for the CC instance, it immediately crashes both instances of Polybud.
I’ve tested this out by reloading polybud and also starting again from scratch but the same thing happens. If I have an instance of Polybud with CCs, if I try to make another pattern in it, it crashes.

Here’s another problem. Not a bug - but in the settings menu, while scrolling to set parameters for various ‘tracks’, I think it’s way too easy to accidentally touch on the ‘delete’ button and then…poof! your hard earned efforts vanish. Maybe you could put in an undo for that just in case?

Thanks for your feedback! I fixed the crash issue and also add an alert pops up after pressing the remove track button.

The new update will be available soon!

Super! Thank you for getting to this so quickly. You're outdoing yourself with interesting and useful sequencers! Each one brings some variation that makes for unique results.
Also, Scalebud 2 has become amazingly useful with many apps. You're on a roll!

You can set your gates 100%

And if that still doesn’t do the trick, extend the release time in your synth (while making sure you are not using a square wave, organ style amp envelope in the synth patch).

    Cool, thanks! I'll try these....

  • The new version is up!

  • I’m having a bug in AUM. When I pause the transporter, the last note from Polybud keeps playing like a stuck note. Anyone else experiencing this?

Fun app! I’m not sure what to do it with it yet, but I love the simple workflow of the other Bud apps that I have.

I get stuck notes if I use one instance of Polybud to change the pattern of another instance. I have two patterns that change every 4 bars. I think the stuck note happens when it cycles from pattern 2 back to pattern 1.

Love this sequencer - generates really interesting musical and rhythmic patterns. One of Cem’s best apps yet!

Nice app but i think the app is screaming here for a draw mode or a master slider like stepbud.at the current moment if you want to "reset" all the steps to a specific parameter or note to start building a sequence i have to tap on each step individually until i get there.so if there is a pattern with 64 or more steps it is very painfull to do the same thing every time.pleeeeeeeeease developers add a draw mode or a master slider like stepbud. it is veeeeery necessary.thanks

  • 100% +1 please @cem_olcay on all of the Bud apps where appropriate 👍

Totally agree - it’s quite a massive pain in the arse - desperately needs a draw mode like stepbud

Same here.Did you find a solution?I noticed that if i mess with low resolutions on gate sequencer it helps but it is not a real solution to the problem i guess.

  • Hi @cem_olcay would be possible to use the real-time note input for each channel instead of a predefined sequence of notes? I need the CC, velocity etc polyrithm lanes on top of my playing. Thanks!

  • Am I imagining it, or did it used to be possible to change the rate knob per parameter, rather than affecting everything? For example, I could have the "note" rate knob set at 1/2D, but then the "probability" at 1/8 - to make for more interesting combinations. I feel sure I used to be able to do that, but now the rate knob changes the rate of note, velocity, gate etc so they're all the same (?) @cem_olcay

  • Bumping this, because I'm pretty sure it's just a straight-forward yes or no answer. Can anyone shed any light on this? (See above post)
