Portrait apps for iPhone?
I’m taking part in a sort of exhibition/workshop next month at a hotel here in Italy, and I’m exhibiting a few photos and showing people how to use their phones to be a bit creative rather than just scrolling Instagram, and I thought I could do a bit of a mini live set in the garden while people drink their spritz and stuff. I am taking a lot of inspiration from Mylar melodies and his set at moog fest, I’m going for a sort of Gigi masin Balearic vibe but I’m having trouble finding apps that I can use in portrait mode. Specifically I’m looking for a drum machine to do a bit of percussive stuff along with the generative ambient bloops. Does anyone have any tips for great portrait mode apps!?
Thanks.

Well this might sound like a improper self propagation, but this really might be a good chance for Beatly Pro
It does sort of exactly what you’re looking for and in the portrait mode.
The dRambo
Can't find it on the Italian appstore
It's next month! I'd never learn it in time!!!!!
Surprised you’re having trouble, I would think most iPhone drum machines would have portrait mode.
Koala should do the trick.
Your allowed, lol.
Yeah I think I’ll use koala if I can’t try beatly
Not the ones I have
I could use groovebox I guess

Woah. Thanks!
I think Digistix 2 works in portrait mode
Triqtrac was my first thought too.
Triqtrac, Koala, Elastic Drums, Launchpad, Figure, TC-11, Soniface, Groovebox by Bleass and Ampify, Oval Synth, Node Beat, Droneo, Phase Rings, Xynthesizer, Expression Pad, both Yamaha apps, Bliptronic, Possible Music, Numa Player, PaulXStretch are all portrait. A lot of them are free.
Korg Gadget 2 (Le)
Hey thanks I’ve got a few of those!!
This sounds amazing, man!! Will it be documented? I'd love to see and hear it (even though the only time I've actually been around spoken Italian has been via you & Jon at Kemp so I might need subs 😂)
And the full version. Forgot that one. Yea I thought there was a decent amount just couldn’t think of which ones off the top..
Blocs Wave, Auxy (subscription), Medly (subscription), Reason Compact, Fractal Bits (sort of). I’m sure there’s a bunch more
So many great suggestions above @sevenape . But, yeah, Koala allows you to change the background to any photo you wish.
Before Drambo... there was Impaktor. The main benefit being you can just tap in the iPhone case or even the table it's sitting on to craft a beat in portrait mode. It's one of the toys I like to hand a small child to pull them into digital music making.
Ikaosilator too gets something out quickly with very little talent required.
TC-11 is a great way to see if someone has much music instinct... it trains you to find the gestures that work for certain sounds.
Thanks everyone!!! So many good ideas you are all amazing
My trick is an ikaosillator track, and then use thumbjam to set the key and jam out over it.
