How you can change a repeating midi Melody or bass line into a changing chord progression
How can you change a repeating midi Melody or bass line into a changing chord progression . I made the repeating midi riff in Cubasis 3. It repeated every bar. I want the midi notes to change and fit the different chords. Is there an app that will be able change the riff into a changing chord progression . Ezkeys did this on my Mac computer. I want to be able to do this on an iPad. Thanks a lot in advance!!

perhaps the upcoming Scaler 2?
Chordjam can do this, I believe. I'd look into that.

A Mozaic script can be crafted to provide "scale based" transpositions of input notes.
I would envision a GUI with PAD's labeled by the CHORD tones or scale names:
Root two Three Four Five Six Seven Octave
I II III IV V IV VII I
Then a knob is need to pre-select the Scale type (Major, Minor, etc)
Notes coming in are detected for their position (or even non-position) in the scale.
Non-scale notes can optional be deleted or slide up or down to the closest scale note.
Now note is output as a relative note in the chord being selected (or pre-determined progression is another way to go).
So incoming notes might outline the root chord in C major:
C E G
If Four (F Chord) is selected the script outputs:
F A C
I hope someone has already done the work in Mozaic and posted it at patchstorage. We still need a lot more people to realize we can request and get solutions using this wonderful app. You don't have to write the solutions... just ask for them. The best programmers create solutions just for the fun of crafting a solution... having someone use the solution is even more fun.
I am not sure what you mean with "changing", like evolving, playing constantly changing chords? Or change single notes in chords?
Ibassist does something like that. You choose chords (in or out a specific key), and in the style you choose, bass lines are played, based on these chords. The cool thing is, Ibassist sends midi chords to another synth. So this way you have a bass line, and the chord. You can even write your own bass line instead of using a preset.
And from my memory, I am not sure if this is Atom, Helium of LK, you can randomly generate chords based on melody, or a melody based on chords. I did fool around with it, but I don't remember if this is something useful.
but then again, you might mean something else?
Do you mean transpose the parts to fit the Chord changes? You could simply transpose the part to fit the current chord or try to find the notes in your part that are outside or clashing with the current chords and simply change them slightly. You can come up with some pretty cool variations using that method.
I went looking after you mentioned Atom, Helium and LK and it may have been LK you had in mind, with it's mutation ability?

ha, great! Mutation -> chords I think is the one, in this case.
You can feed Chordjam a single note, and it will output chords, triggered or sequenced. Also has an arpeggiator.
Thanks for the advice about iBassist!
