Drum Maps

Is there a generally accepted map for drums on an MPC style device ?

There is a map for general midi, but I am not aware of a standard for mpc.

    C1 - D2# seems to be normal.
16 notes, of course you can transpose if you choose - but drum pads start on C.

  • I found a reference to it in a manual for something I was fooling around with, but Google turned up nothing formal and nothing from Akai that I could see. I’d “assume” that all MPC devices share the same mapping and you could base it on that. Until the mappings change of course. 😖

Yes, I have an MPC. BM3 and Sitala all C1

  • There are similarities depending on the generation of the machine, eg MPC 3000 versus MPC One (or MPC Software).
The programs from the MPC Samples site often vary from this, for playability.
Some video makers on YT also use different pad schemes for that reason, some explain why.
It‘s a matter of personal convenience, depending on how to reach instruments while finger drumming.
