My appeal to iConnectivity for a 3+ product
I posted the following to iConnectivity's FB page. The 2+ and 4+ cannot truly be considered standalone for IOS-only users. I'm starting to see an increase of new users who are just now realizing that your need a Mac/PC to get the most out of the current products.
Can you guys position a iConnectMIDI 3+ in between the 2+ and 4+ with:
(2) USB PC/IOS ports as on the 2+
NO Din ports
(1) USB host port
Audio pass-through
Optional A/C adaptor as available with the 2+
IOS users would purchase this in droves. It will allow for true standalone operation for those of us that produce in the box without the use of external MIDI equipment (DIN) and need/want to use existing IOS-compatible sound interfaces.
Comments
That might be a bit of an assumption on my part with regard to droves of purchases, but considering the capabilities, I'd bet on it.
No DIN ports? To me, that makes it even LESS useful without a computer.
i think Apple should release a lightning to lightning cable that does Audio pass through....

Yeah, then that would not be the interface for you. However, in those cases, I could see setting up a daisy-chain to a ICM2+ to gain DIN ports.
As it turns out, iConnectivity replied on their FB page that the above configuration would require mains power (because of the host port, of course) and therefore, they can't produce a product at or near the price point of the ICM4+. Makes sense, but there's no denying how much more flexible their hubs would be if this capability was present. I'd gladly pay more if the hubs had a proper host port, and I sure as hell wouldn't mind plugging it into the wall either.

+1
Or better yet, a CCK through which the iDevice can be simultaneously charged. The IRig MIDI has a port that allows for this. That would solve my only issue with the ICM hubs (the inability to host an audio interface) - I could then just plug my interface into a USB hub as well as a iDevice with a CCK.
Judging by the upcoming Audio4+, they can't do multiple iOS devices and the USB host port at the same time. It's a one or the other type of thing. And since their USB implementation also doesn't support external USB audio interfaces, there would be no way to get audio in and out of the unit AND still provide power to the iOS device (except for the onboard mic/headphone jack mic.)
This brand is on the right track but I agree that their current products are a "close but no cigar" situation for me too. Unfortunately, the product you are proposing would fall into that category for me as well.

That may not be the case. The photos they released a while back imply that, but on their FB page they said it could do both simultaneously. But when asked directly, they responded that they were working that feature.
Guess we'll find out when it's released....

Well that is interesting. The photo on their website shows a toggle to select one or the other. If they could do both then that would rekindle my interest, providing they had a dedicated lightning cable with it.
Just found out that with a iDevice->iDevice/4+, if I plug headphones into device B, I can hear audio. Not optimal of course, but this does change things a bit in my case. I need to test more apps, but at least I now know that I can pass through audio between two iDevices and actually hear what's going on. I've posted that finding on their FB page as well.
Hi Marco, we appreciate all the product feedback on Facebook.
Some details on the iConnectAUDIO4+ are TBD at this time.
In the meantime, your feature requests are greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
No DINs Marco?!?
Sounds like you bought the wrong interface. Get out while you still can.

Oh it's the right interface.
Ok maybe one DIN, but the point is that there should be a USB host port on there. With that, one can then daisy-chain a 2+ to the '3+' to get DIN ports.
