From my own use - Id thoroughly recommend Hammerhead. The stock sounds are good enough to get you going. You can import your own samples and use the drumsynth included.

    I'd also recommend

    SDS-X

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/sds-x-simple-drum-sampler/id1468026221

That looked interesting until I saw the monthly subscription mentioned!

The Pure Acid drum machine is absolutely excellent sounding - totally solid, with plenty of variation options - not to mention a great selection of effects.

According to the App Store there's a one-time purchase option as well.

Oh hell...I see it...I thought the $12.99 was monthly at first.... yeah honestly $12.99 isn't a bad price so it'd be better to just buy it outright if it floats your boat

For ALL around music sounds, the best AUV3 I have come across is EG Pulse. You might need to consider the sequencer is only one pattern length (or like 4 bars only) but if you make your own in the piano roll or your daw or whatever, the best out of the box sounds are Pulse

Pulse is great. And having easy ability to do different lengths per track is fantastic for polyrhythms. And recording the note repeats directly into the sequencer can make for some really weird and experimental stuff if you have some cool found sounds loaded up. Shoutout to @zvon for his fantastic sample packs.

It’s definitely worth it, imo. I use it fairly often and it’s great.

I'll check out the demo on Friday and if I vibe with it, I'll get it after Ruismaker Noir ^_^

  • My personal favorites are Hanmerhead, Drum Computer, Beat Scholar, Playbeat 3, and Fractal Bits.

But the Ruismaker apps are very very close. There are so many amazing drum machines on iOS though.

Vatanator is great and kinda overlooked. The new BlipBox is fantastic. Egoist is cool as a drum machine. EG Pulse, Seekbeats, Elastic Drums, DM1&2, etc. Not all of them or AU but you can always export the loop into Sitala to have those sounds in AUV3 format.

Do you build any of your own playbeat packs? I find the available packs really genre-specific and it’s a huge pain the use the UI to assemble my own from sample libs.

  • Way late to the party on Fractal bits, downloaded it last night and had a bunch of fun. So cool! Blip box is great! Yea hammerhead, FAC Drumkit, Sitala, king of bass are some of my favorites too for sure

I haven’t done much of that yet outside of loading in some of my own samples occasionally. I generally will just edit the presets it comes with or download some off of their website, there’s some great stuff there. Zvon has some great packs for it on his website for free.

Sure thing! I plug them any time I get the chance. Hoping I’ll get the money to buy some packs soon to offer more support 🙏 the found sounds packs for Drumkit is fantastic.

@Robin84 Glad I saw this....We have something planned in the next 3-4 months with great sounds and patterns out of the box, for the same reason as you. We would rather focus on creating synth patches and sounds and leave the drums to the experts. So we have a huge library of Pre-made chops and Kits ready to go all fully processed.

What particular genre of drums are you looking for?

Will the samples be multi velocity layered?
