i think there are a few apps that allow youtube viewing as an AU plugin.
tube Au is one?
what are the others?

    mainly just interested in having a video play while i play along with it, or transcribe a piec of music

    The new Tube Audio Unit replaces very nicely and with more stability the old discontinued Tube AU for me.
    The audio mode is very nice and Dev is super responsive. He has been adding new fonctionalities very frequently.

    No, it doesn't require the paid version.

    Start up the YouTube app. Tap the three "multitasking" dots at the center-top of the screen, select the icon at the right that looks like a screen with a pop-over. Then select AUM from the Home Screen.

    The multitasking features are only on iPad.

    Wen Au, and automatically opens my youtube app and makes it start playing? is there a way to stop this?

    I've not had that issue sorry @eross

    I just know that you cannot record audio from WebAU.

    I just know that you cannot record audio from WebAU.

    i just made youtube the homepage in Web Au. seems to be good now. ? idunno. 😜 thanks for recommending its working nicely

    Thanks everyone for the answers looks like Tube Audio Unit might be what I need for direct sampling into AU host

    That one, or Web Audio from blue Mangoo which plays The YT audio through the channel in AUM, but video does not play.
