  • Great synth. Definitely got it's own sounds/character to it. The resent update with the new saturation filters really spiced it all up a few notches too.

  • I like this app anyone know where i can find more presets?

Http://www.sunsineaudio.com sells a pack or two (I believe there are a bunch of demo presets available for download as well).

  • Sunsine ones are quite good. Also, Tim @discchord did a very informative video on it.

  • Cool thanx

  • Looking forward to exploring this one more!

  • How bad do I need this, I have 900mb of storage left?

  • In a cage match, Cassini loses to Thor, iSEM, and animoog every time. (Not trying to poo the thread, I have Cassini and really like it, but with under a gig, I would use that space for recording, not for Cassini)

  • It's 45 MB, is that really going to make a difference?

  • Cassini is easy to download and delete and download and delete and use whenever you're in the mood for it. I'm someone who isn't always a big fan of synths, so I don't use them all that often, but I have a bunch of them anyway that I use for different types of contributions. Cassini is sometimes one of my favorites because I use it mainly for wild rhythms. With the arp and the three delays and the filter sequences all going at once I can wind up with rhythms that would be almost impossible for anyone, including me, to repeat. Setting all of that off with a step sequencer can be pretty amazing. It can be almost seizure-inducing, but that's sort of the effect that I'm going for with Cassini.

  • @Janie, got an SC link for an example?

I don't think you'll be missing out on anything if you pass on this one. I personally found it sounding uninspiring.

  • Cassini is definitely a 'what you put into it' sort of synth. The included presets do the app a disservice as far as I'm concerned.

  • I really wish someone out there could post a few free examples of presets they've come up with... Just 8 or 10 showcasing some different tones. Someone on here must be able to spare a few minutes and take this on. Please?

  • I'd put it differently @syrupcore: if it is 'your kind of sound'. I am a synth tweaker and only give up with monsters like ivcs3. I found Cassini base waveforms a bit weak and not dissimilar to Magellan's with only difference that Magellan has an awesome fx engine to lift the sound, not the case with Cassini. I accept however if someone says that it is 'their kind of sound' as I can't argue with tastes.

  • The presets of Cassini are a weak point, not just because they do it a disservice (as @syrupcore said), but because they are poorly managed. There are a few presets available through Synthpatcher website and some paid ones, but they are called "timbres" and you need to save them one by one.

I consider it a "vintage" synth - it does simple delays and lead tones well, so if your goal is a clear "ping" type sound to use with an arppegiator, etc., it works just fine.

  • @supadom fair enough. Though the delay2 in Cassini is on par with aufx:dub and echopad for 'my kind of sound'. I'd buy it again as a stand alone effect in a heartbeat.

Funny, I think of Cassini as anything but a "vintage" synth. Pretty modern to my ears, largely due the modulation options, and not very good at VA at all. I absolutely agree about the lackluster preset management.
