Hi NeuM. I have this issue in AUM too - load up a saved set up and nothing plays from Steel Guitar Pro - I found that if I go into each Steel Guitar Pro and select a new (or the old) preset all is good. Issue exists in AUM on iphone and Ipad all latest OS.
So is there an issue with Steel Guitar Pro and state saving?
is there a list of whats new in PRO version !? except auv3 ?!
I have the old one and it works quite well...
thnx
Even though the current version has some critical problems, at the price it is today, you’ll be buying the next generation of guitar simulator for cheap.
I also have this problem with re-opening sessions in AUM and Steel Guitar Pro become silent. Especially if there are 2 instances of SGP in session. I noticed that guitar volume fader acts weird in those silent instances...
Hopefully @Jessie at Yonac is seeing this valuable feedback as our attempt to help fix the app, which is otherwise terrific sounding.
There's a list in the app description on there App Store.
The biggies for me are MIDI input and AUv3 implementation. With MIDI input and AUv3 you can use one instance for a chordal backup while you use another for soloing.
With MIDI output (and special attention to the custom MIDI protocol) you can drive other synths too.
They jumped the choices from 10 instruments up to 18.
On the downside they didn't implement the 2 finger mute option. The 3 finger mute is enabled with bar tilting. I hope this is an oversight that gets addressed in an update.
The surprises are MIDI output (but in a custom MIDI protocol format). Hacking that format has become a project for me to use that "slide" interface to control synths that allow for pitch bends of 12 or more semitones. It's pretty magical and something I had to use TC-Data for but didn't get such a real world presentation. I just need to create a Mozaic filter to convert string values to optional "tunings".
I really like that you are digging in to exploit using SGP as a MIDI keyboard. One of my longest running gripes about GeoShred is the lack of an ability to strum. SGP is trying to straddle that line between strumming and soloing, and it’s a real balancing act. Not even Apple has figured that one out yet.
How often do you use the original? I like the idea of Steel Guitar, but the new version doesn't really improve on things for me. The midi implementation kind of neglects the beauty of the instrument, which is the slide. You'll get to have state saving, and as @McD points out, there are new instruments.
As I’ve said before, the new distorted guitars are really quite good. In my opinion, the inability to save the performance and replay after re-opening AND the lack of 2-finger muting make use of the app extremely limited for me right now. But I’m confident Yonac can address these problems.
What tunings of the 6 and 10 string instruments are important to you?
Should I just match those implemented in the app in the Mozaic filter or look into more World Music options or 10 note scale mapping to the typical scale options. I wish there were
a 12 string option to reach the chromatic octave... which 2 notes to leave out? How many 2 note deleted options make sense? Scalar can force scales and I have been using that with the 10 string options but I can't force to an octave so adding scales/tunings into the Mozaic filter would help. I'd better get started. Maybe someone will beat me to it and I can just play with the results... hint, hint.
I wonder if there's a gesture I could detect to do the knee pedal stuff. There is a list of custom CC uses in the manual:
Maybe the use of multiple channels is breaking the DAW behavior. Turning on MPE might help if the DAW supports recording MPE. (Cubasis maybe?)
Same in Loopy Pro so it’s definitely a bug. And one that needs immediate attention obviously.
Consider adding bugs and comments to this bug collection thread also.

I just opened Steel Guitar Pro as Auv3 in apeMatrix and midi learned the 7 pedals to the MIDI CC pads/buttons in Imaginando LK. OMG it’s so awesome. Need to find a way to use my diy midi bass pedals/foot controller in the future. This is a sweet Pedal Steel VI!!! I had the orig. app since iPhone 4 I believe but never really used it.
I also midi learned the DAMP button to the 8th LK pad for string muting, maybe that’s helpful to the people upset about how the old muting worked.
Woah that sounds absolutely awesome. I’m loving that you’re really putting it through it’s paces. So if I understand right, you’re using a custom script for this?
Also never realized Shoom sends Midi?? That’s awesome. TC-Data is one I need to buy. Can you do the same as TC-11 where you have 4 parts on one screen.
Besides 4P Midi Strummer, exporting the midi from Riffler works quite well…
A few apps have a way to set up guitar voicings like the new Scaler 2, and I think tonality as well, in the Au chord pads part.
No. I just used AUM to upshift the Notes +48 or +60 depending on the target app.
The default is a chromatic scale starting at MIDI Note 0 for 6 or 10 notes.
You must put the target app in OMNI mode to catch all the Pitch Bends. Notes are on channel 15.
NOTE: But I am working on a Mozaic script to add "tunings" and "scales" to the resulting
MIDI stream and avoid the requirement to upshift the MIDI Notes 4-5 octaves. It's sad that so many read Mozaic and say "I don't program". Well, fine. Do you configure apps? Mozaic can be loaded with scripts you don't write or even read. Just download the script and configure Mozaic in a DAW as a MIDI FX app with the script loaded. @alfreds shared a demo AUM project with me that uses something like 18 of his Mozaic scripts. He has an amazing collection of custom Mozaic "tools". Most are on PatchStorage, I expect.
I don't think it does which is why this is useful for this type of "pitch knob" MIDI.
I don't think TC-11 sends MIDI but it provides similar results in a single package.
Yea Mozaic is one of the best apps, I use it in one way or another every session. the abundance of Patchstorage scripts already Available makes at steal at $4.99 which it’s been sitting at more recently.
I gotta try this, you mean using the midi controller IAP in LK correct?

Yeah I set it up like this below: it’s pretty cool to get the hang of pedals. Been my dream to get a pedal steel forever. It’s awesome to jam with this thing.
Just stumbled upon a couple interesting apps that should be useful with Steel Guitar Pro…
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/keyborg-pro/id1059165657
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steel-sidekick/id802758051
Regarding “Keyborg Pro”: 812 MB for a MIDI controller? That sounds really inefficiently programmed.
Yea I know. I just tried it, and the setup is a little complicated, I quickly gave up for now, didn’t have the time, Might try again later
It has a good sampled piano used for the output audio. That’s probably where the download size comes from.
I added my MIDI conversion script in Mozaic to patchstorage. I takes the custom MDI formatted stream coming out of Steel Guitar Pro and converts it to standard MIDI 1.0 format as input to other apps on channel 1 only.
If the target supports pitch bends to 12 you can use the slide to play that app like a slide guitar… there a pitch knob to tune in the 12th fret octave too.
You can use multiple copies from 1 Steek guitar Pro and tune up each target for the best unisons or use transpose and play power chords.

Version 1.1 is out:
This update to Steel Guitar PRO augments general robustness and provides certain new functionality to improve the user experience.
• Adds option under Enhanced Slide Control preference to allow 2-touch damping
• Copedent (“Pedals Setup”) now displays current tuning, as well as names of bent notes on the matrix
• String spacing preference now improved to retain relative margins when changing screen sizes in AUv3
• Fixes an issue where guitar may get muted when changing presets with Load Guitar From Preset was set to off
• Improved and more robust preset and fullstate loading
• Fixes an issue where guitar may get muted when loading from saved state (AUv3)
• Fixes an issue where MIDI note-off caused a retrigger when using certain external MIDI keyboards with GarageBand
• Other improvements and optimizations
Darn... Looks like they didn't add the Sustain (CC64) response for external MIDI.
But 2 finger muting to match the original product is a nice feature.
I need to dig into what can be done with pedals using iPad tilting. I rarely hold the iPad in both hands to even do tilts but this might be fun. I think the pedals can be MIDI learned so I could hack a script to send the right trigger from a PAD UI like someone did with LK.

Steel Guitar Pro works fantastically well now. Thanks, @Yonac! Finally have the ‘guitar simulator’ of my dreams.
The two finger muting works even better than the original Steel Guitar now. Unbelievable. Love it.
I still hope Yonac finds a way to bring SGP to desktop so all the work that goes into creating a performance on iOS can then be used and refined for a better editing and mixing experience on a more powerful computer.
For anybody like me who for whatever reason want to strum with your left hand and slide with your right but with descending pitch going to the left and ascending pitch to the right (I.e. not a simple Lefty setting) then @McD has come up with a brilliantly simple solution.
Open two instances of SGP, set one to Lefty and place its so the strum area is to the left. Open the other (Righty) and overlay it so that the slide area buts up to the Lefty Strum area. See screenshot below… Set the Midi input of Righty to be Lefty and mute Lefty. Off you go! Many thanks @McD
