"Simple" wavetable synth?
Synth master One is one of the most praised wavetable synths out there and I had the chance to try it out yesterday as it is on sale. Thing is I am quickly put off by overabundance of options: endless presets, endless wavetable shapes, endless modulation routing options. Mostly focused the general tone and "personality" of the synth.
Obsidian is a lovely synth and I really like the wavetable selection it has. It is however quite complex and I would like to be able to reach out for something more streamlined every now and then.
Is there any other wavetable synth offering that might come close to my needs for simplicity?
Thanks!

Electribe Wave would be my recommendation.
Groove Rider would be another one for sure.
I really like the simple wavetable synth in Grooverider-16. Only waveposition and pulsewidth as specific controls.
Yes!!
Yes, I have been looking at Electribe Wave, seems quite straightforward!
With Drambo you can make it simple as you want.
Yep! 1 wavetable oscillator module with 1 adsr envelope module following it. The most basic, basic wavetable synth you could have.
Electribe Wave sounds good and is easy to use and edit sounds.
Does PolyWave count? It’s incredibly simple for sure, but very pleasing to use…
PolyWave by Fingerlab looks easy to use
Another vote for Electribe Wave.
I think I read somewhere in the forum that if used as a plugin in an AUV3 host the Electribe Wave lacks some of the features of the standalone version. I think the drum part might be missing. Can you confirm this?
Yes. No preset browser and only one synth part.
GR16 has basically everything that the standalone app has.
SynthMaster Player?
Another vote for Electribe Wave,
Not multitimbral and no drums as an AU but this could be seen as a positive as part of a modular style setup or to keep things simple.
Standalone
Audio Unit
So the whole sequencer feature is absent in the AUV3. You still get the arp. The presets can only be saved and recalled through the AU host. Right? Anyways, my main need is for a good sounding wavetable synth with a simple interface, so it doesn't really matter.
Yep in fact the factory presets are also available through the host preset browser which is nice to see.
Also, try the Reasonable Synth instrument for Drambo on Patch Storage, that someone uploaded a few weeks ago. I've found it super fast to get ideas going recently. Most of the synths sounds below are made with patches that I created using Reasonable Synth.
Very nice! The interface is also appealing.
Thanks! It's laid out pretty well and easy to navigate.
Electribe Wave is definitely more simple as an AU. Just a straight forward wavetable synth. Someone else mentioned PolyWave and I think it may be the best for simplicity. The interface is just fantastic and it has a random patch generator.
Synthmaster Player is great if you want mostly presets. Also the wavetable groovebox by DeisgnbyPaul. WT1 I think it’s called. It’s IAA/Audiobus only but it’s really straightforward as well.
"mikelcoolj" is credited on PatchStorage. It's probably not Mike Levy.
Gr-16 can import wave tables, won’t get simpler than that one. You have all controls in one page
Sadly Drambo can’t do this
Can you save your own electribe wave presets within Drambo?
You can save instrument rack presets, but there's no way to access actual Electribe Wave presets or to save them other than as rack presets.
This should be the watermark on every page of this forum
I compare Drambo with this:
Drambo.
4 oscilator. Can be 10 oscilator ( if cpu allows )
Is there a hardware wavetable synth thats 4/6 oscilator ?
Which can be programmed via key sync.
Sequenced with same midi but on seperate tracks. Seperated (whilst recording ) And back to same note input recording.
Dual sequencers per synth. Normal sequencer and a module sequencer.
Unlimited modulation ( envelopes/lfos )
What are the downsides to programming synths this way?
