Acoustics In The River
The other day I received a message from my adopted 7 year old niece.
Hi Uncle Paulie,
I wrote a poem for you. I hope you like it.
Love,
Olivia
Acoustics In The River
Acoustics in the river
Melodies in the sky
Like an ocean wave
A flower opens
Soft as a bee
As colorful as a rainbow
Like a soft ocean rainbow
Like the waves in the ocean
When waves wreck the sand
When sand leaves treasures
In the river a flower flows
Soon rivers flow with flower petals
Acoustics sing in the rivers
When the flowing river sings
We all shout Halleluyah
When Jesus was born
To the time Jesus went to heaven
When God created the Earth
When melodies sing through the sky
Yes, Olivia... Uncle Paulie likes it very much!

Olivia sounds like quite the treasure.
There’s many things to like about this, the piano parts especially. Some sounds remind me of rippling water, I suppose that was your intent, given the title. Thanks for sharing this Paul. I enjoyed it very much.
Yes, she most definitely is a treasure. She just turned 7 last month and is currently reading at a high school level. She really has a knack for arithmetic, but she calls it mathematics! She can figure prime numbers in her head. She is an old soul in a tiny new body. I am waiting for her to send me a recording of her reciting this poem. I plan to overdub it. We both thank you for listening!
Hi Paulie,
Lovely words, simply truth, very poetic!
For a 7-year old, this is is excellent work.
Full of hope and beauty, this is truly a treasure!!!
Warm regards ro you, and to Olivia!!!
Thank you!
Rene
Thank you, Rene. She is now living with my wife's sister in California on a small ranch with dogs and horses. She is autistic but brilliant. When she first arrived she was extremely frail and withdrawn. Over the last few years she has really come alive. She is still very shy, but once she gets to know you, you can't shut her up. She reminds me of a quote from Ulysses Grant - I shall, on all subjects, have a policy to recommend. If you are ever in doubt about something, just ask Olivia!
That poem and your brief bio indicate she has a very special brain. I have a great nephew that's similar but not anywhere as verbal. But the mathematical and analytical skills are off the charts. Unfortunately, he can become quite obsessive with information input that only the internet can serve... conversations just don't do it for him.
Oh... there's music to be listened to. I'll be back after I have finished scanning the front page for news.
I love this type pf syncopated instrumental music... the 16th note tremolo was a nice touch. All I seem to want to do is ask how it was made and guess at the tools and apps used.
She must be an incredible inspiration to you.
Wonderful song!
How did she like it? Hope it's the start of a very special collaboration.
Hi Paulie,
What a beautiful soul, Olivia!!!.
And you are so awesome for the love and devotion you shine on her.
Pls extend my regards to her, and my salute to you!!!
Respectfully,
Rene
Definitely lots of news this weekend! I hope things don't get crazy. The internet has certainly become the go-to source for information. I remember when I had to go to the public library to do research. The difference is that, back then, I could be relatively sure it was the truth. Not so much now.
I like using tremolo violins, for some reason. They seem to add a little tension without being obnoxious. I have used that before with satisfactory results. Regarding apps - I just do what I usually do. I mix samples, loops, and synth apps. I like punching random nonsense into the piano roll, then weed out what doesn't work. I might try that sequence against a dozen or more synth apps until I find something that clicks. I doesn't always click, but sometimes it does and I just go with it. I don't mind spending time doing this. Especially when the weather is nice and I can work (play) outside. I am going to post something a little later that, as Monty Pythons would say, is completely different. I think you might like it, or at least be amused!
Yes, I absolutely adore her. Unfortunately, she lives several thousand miles away, and we only get together in video chats. I don't think she has heard this yet. She is autistic and has a rather short attention span. When she does, I'm sure she will call and I will try to get her to recite while I record. I want to overdub her words. I think it will be really nice. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thank you for listening!
Thank you, sir! I will do that. Have a great day!
