iphone as midi controller via lightning->usb cable - how?
This iphone'ish/ios stuff is new for me.
I'd like to use iphone as a midi controller for Windows/PC apps. Is it possible? Should be; let say via lightning->usb cable - thus there whould have to be some sort of windows driver, that allows to see the iphone as a midi unit (in the same way you connect midi keyboards). How to make it? What should be then used on iOS side?
Or maybe wifi? (optional).

There are definitely wifi and bluetooth options out there. I think for windows you'll want to google "RPTMIDI" or some such.
For hardware, you'll need a camera connection kit (CCK) and a MIDI interface or you could use something like the iRig MIDI without a CCK if you have actual 5-din ports on your computer. Once connected, Windows should just see it as any other MIDI port and you can route it within your DAW/instruments per usual.
Have a look at this example....

It looks somewhat ridiculous to me.
If a hardware like irig or else - can convert digital information that is coming out of the iphone (via lightning cable) - into midi inormation, then why there can't be a direct solution on WIndows/PC for that? Digital information is just a digital information.
I can imagine a simple Windows driver, that either captures iphone connected to my machine or releases it for other services. Driver, that is seen in hosts as some sort of standard USB midi controller. A software bridge so to speak.
I just would like to connect the idevice via USB in the same simple way as I connect external midi keyboard/controller - plug in and use it. No additional hardware.
Is this possible or is some work being done around it?
