External drum machine with Aum midi clock sync
GEar: Roland Tr-8
Volt 1 UniversaL Audio ( audio interface ) with Midi In/out
Aum
I saw Midi Link Sync being used in scenarios like mine...
Could someone explain what are the settings/connections required in order to midi clock sync the tr-8 with Aum?
That's what i guess would be the physical midi connections:
Volt 1 midi in TO Tr-8 midi out
Volt 1 usb connection to iPad
tr-8 audio out to Line in Volt 1 ( mono is fine )
What about next steps in Aum? Is Midi Link Sync still a good option for this?
Appreciate !

Got that app but only used link to midi app instead.
Just open app. Then select the midi din connection. Not sure if you are usb.
It will sync with aum. Plus trigger a volca drum with the green play button. As drum buttons arnt great, anyway.
There is also that app from the developer of Fugue Machine, if I’m not wrong…
Any difference in between the two ?

It would just be midi out from volt to tr8 with aum setting the tempo. Sync.
Until aum can recieve clock from harware drum.
Not sure. App seemed a bit complicated. The link to midi app will sync drum to aum but you have to midi out from volt to tr8.
Sync.
There might be a system of app combos where the drum could send/adjust host bpm instead of host adjusting drum bpm. Probably with the midi to link app and another host. Not sure about that.
For the link to midi app and if using aum. You would need to volt out to tr8. Then with app. Choose the midi din from list.
Ok… now I’m lost, so I’ll have to use all 4 physical midi connections with the two’s ( tr-8 and Volt )?
