  • Marc Rebillet yesterday in Paris. He's been mentioned a few times on the forum for his experiments with real-time looping (https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/48342/loopy-pro-midi-controller-compatibility-auto-mapping/p1).

Let's say it's a bit like visiting a contemporary art museum. You'd like to like it. There are some good things. But overall you end up getting bored during this experimental and improvised musical deconstruction's happening. It became a bit more interesting after an hour and half when he played two of his songs (before, it was only improvisation).

(As a side note, he's now famous in France, as he began to insult the French president during his concerts.)

Or maybe I'm old... Many audiences seemed to enjoy it (but some of them left before the end).

  • Live from Montreux. Jacob Collier

A couple with my 19 year old son. Herbie Hancock in Raleigh a couple of weeks ago. (Wow!) Steely Dan in Durham, NC later this month.

I'm off to Herbie in a couple of weeks, (Lionel Loueke and Terence Blanchard in the band), can't wait.

  • Took my 10 year old son to see Maiden last night. They fucking SLAYED

  • Later this week, in San Francisco for two of the final three Dead & Company shows.

  • I saw her yesterday. She is small on the picture but is one of the greatest voice all time

  • Counting Crows in Connecticut in couple of weeks, then Crowded House in Niagara Falls later in the year!

  • Primus on Saturday. Yay.

  • Front 242/Covenant/Agent Side Grinder all synth/EBM but not until Jan’25…

    🥲

    King Creosote in November.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Been watching local acts at local venues.

Big name acts seen so far in 2024: Swans

Will probably see Doobie Brothers later this summer. Wonder if they'll play anything from the new album they've been working on.

I didn’t even know Swans were still together, let alone playing live .. new lineup?

I just remember Michael Gira and Kristof Hahn on lap steel. I think Gira did announce who the other band members but there was so much noise from people talking and stuff I couldn't really hear.

I do remember the band allowing for 2 lap steel players simultaneously, as well as 2 simultaneous bass guitarists - with one person switching between lap steel and bass - and I think 2 drummers too.

Ah .. haven’t heard anything from
them since “Glowing Man” and thought , for some reason , that they (or that current lineup) were done with that album/tour , but a quick search shows some new releases since then .. seen them a couple times and both were fantastic shows . “The Seer” is one of my all time favorite albums .

I have seen him maybe 4 times in the past, and he’s been hilarious every time. One time he had a heckler who had taken acid so he invited the guy to come up and talk on his mic…

  • Caught Gary Newman and Frontline Assembly at a small Venue “Pappy and Harriet’s” in pioneer town California, next is “Urban Heat” in hollywood
