Pure Piano (Reversed) Crystalline (Reversed) Blackhole (Modulated) = Beautiful Ambient Piano

Here is a really cool way to get a rich and lush ambient piano sound using Pure Pianos Reverse and Cinematic settings.
That then goes into Crystalline where its reverse setting is applied.
And last in the chain is Eventide Blackhole with the modulation on full.
I hope you enjoy the video.

  • It sounds absolutely brilliant (or crystalliant) but 30€ is way too much at least for me. Prices for normal live are flipping skyrocketing in the moment and gets more and more f***ed up each day I open the news.

However, I would be pretty much down for a cool sale in a few weeks (Black Friday ;))

Let’s list any other reverse capable FX apps too.

    yaleD
(Reverse playback in) Loopy HD or Pro
Reverse IR’s in ThafKnar or AltiSpace 1 or 2
MixBox CS has in Inverse Reverb
    Turnado
Enso (record loop and play in reverse)
Stratossphere Cloud Reverb can wipe out the piano impulse

EOS 2 can completely wipe out the piano attack in Ravenscroft using Predelay and heavy MIX and Decay… probably the cheapest solution

With all of them used @jwmmakerofmusic would be happy and no PaulXStretch or Gauss required… I even stopped the transport in AUM and it’s still going strong.

The free Numa Player has some excellent pianos too for the budget impaired.
Crystalline on the Numa Piano “Vintage Upright” is very lovely.

I wonder how the new Sunset Reverbs in Mixbus compare to Crystalline. I know its apples to melons but I’d love to hear which you prefer to use in different contexts. Also, DSP/CPU impact.

Oh my… The Sunset Reverbs are super transparent. Crystalline has really good options for time alterations and such but The Sunset plugins are just super clean recreations of the Sunset Studios Rooms, Chamber, Plate and Spring Reverbs.

It’s a “glue” effect that quickly gets you to a complete balanced space.

There will be a race to demo this one.

  • That sounds lovely, Doug! As is so often , you inspired me to try something similar, although I don’t have the new Crystalline, so I soon departed from exactly what you did, with less reversed ambience and added a meditative SWAM Flute in GeoShred. I used Eventide Shimmerverb and Blackhole, plus ethnic percussion from DigiStix 2. It all just came together in less than 5 minutes !

Don't worry, Thafknar can produce insane spheres as well (start with a simple IR containing noise swelling up and down) and using Drambo's Plate Reverb, by adding a slight modulation to the Size knob, you get these detune effects as well.
