app that makes a sequence sound more humanistic?

Hello fellow ios nerds! :)

maybe this was all a dream but i swore i watched a gavinski tutorial on an app that can give your sequence a more humanistic and less perfect feel? like adding slight variety to the velocity and placement of the notes?

maybe this was part of a certain sequencer he was reviewing but i wonder if there is a stand alone app that can do this? or does anyone have any favorite sequencers that do this well? currently i have been writing everything on fogue machine but the playing can be just a little too precise.

thanks

  • I like to use Mozaic for this.
Pipe the MIDI into Mozaic, use a script like these ones:
    https://patchstorage.com/humanise/
    https://patchstorage.com/ranbo-multi-channel-note-humanizer/

  • You can use the Humanizer module in Drambo for this.

Eg. Fugue Machine to Drambo to Instrument AUv3 in AUM

  • Cality can add swing and accents to midi generators. If you want to add swing to an app like ZOA just run it into Cality and then from Cality into whatever synth or sampler you like.

    I use Ranbo a lot.

In atom 2 you can add velocity randomness

Basically any app that can randomize velocity and timing, or sometimes even other things like gate, probabilities, ratchet, etc… will help get you something more natural. It’s great when you can set a range too. Like random velocity but only between 2 points.

I love setting the probabilities on drums so hits only over a certain percentage of passes through.

Almost all the bud apps by Cem have this.

    Polybeat and cycle

Drambo has some modules on Patchstorage.

    StreamByter

Stuff that filters midi can help too, midigates, Rozeta

Cc ing parameters is another way to get a more natural sound, whether it’s the volume or whatever.

    Chordjam

There’s lots of ways to approach i5 depending on what you are doing. Something like Mozaic is great because you can stick it in any midi signal and get the results.

  • Yea swing can add a more natural rhythm to the sequence

Pretty sure that's what i used ij the vid you saw. There's also the Mozaic 'Add Swing' script. Don't worry, u don't need to know anything about coding to use these, dead easy

awesome! thanks for the response as well as all your vids. ps… i hope you go back to the voice-over walk-throughs one day. you’re literally the only tolerable voice/youtuber doing ios tutorials. i cannot handle the others. thanks for everything you do.

thank you so much for all the info!

Yep. Cality is fantastic. Great if you’re into noise and experimental too as it can get into black midi territory.

Thank u - if i can get a wireless lavalier mic setup that actually works as i need it to i might start spoken walkthroughs again, otherwise, kind of unlikely - and sadly from the recent thread I started on the topic there is no way i can record my voice while monitoring my voice and music at the same time without a hub / interface set-up of some kind, which I really do not want to go back to using. But thanks!
