He should look at the kinds of lessons Rick Beato offers (he probably need not offer anything so extensive, but it could help him form a lesson plan).
Yeah, I love Rick’s videos — and he has a great model to provide multiple revenue streams.
I’m hoping Flo is able to have Rick’s great ability to teach. He is an incredible talent and if he’s able to transfer his knowledge to other players, he has a very promising future.
Rather sad there seems to be no support for Flo here after all he has contributed to the forum over the years.
From past posts, I get the feeling he is going through some rather tough times and could use the amazingly positive power of our forum for support — even if you don’t play guitar, but appreciate Flo’s talent and his previous contributions to our forum.
I was planning to respond to Flo this morning but he’s taken the video down.
I didn’t have a chance to see it or share it. I have shared his jams in the past and seen very positive reactions to them.
Why do you have the impression there is no support here?
Because only one person bothered to reply when I posted that comment. I know that for guitarists on the ABF, he was much appreciated. After he exited the forum for what is apparently the final time, it seemed he was having difficulties and was in need of support. When he posted this video yesterday, it didn’t seem like Flo was coming from a good place. Now the Flo has apparently taken the video down, it appears that was the case. I was simply hoping we could get enough forum members aware of his situation to help him.
I would be really interested in this. Having spent the past 2 years getting back into synths, I dug my old acoustic out of the attic last weekend. I Haven’t played for 20 years and while I’m surprised by the amount of muscle memory I have for the basics, it’s all a bit clunky and awkward at the moment. Not to mention the sore fingers and wrist!
Yeah definitely; picking up some of Flo’s fluidity and tone would be great for any guitarist…
Video is down. I’m interested in taking guitar lessons again. I played in intermediate orchestra and AM jazz band in college, as well as a Dream-Pop outfit and a couple post-rock projects…but after a bad accident, had to stop for a bit and sell my pedals. Still have my axe and amp, and tonestack pro. Would love to get serious into guitar again, would be more interested in learning jazz, neo-soul, and mellower stylings.
You can probably contact him via his YouTube channel. The video was mostly asking for feedback about logistics of setting up lessons and getting paid.
For those that don’t know (e.g., me) - what YT channel is that?

Thanks ^
Don’t you think it was a bit premature to accuse members of lacking empathy less than 24 hours after your post?
Any how, Uh ya I’m interested. I bought a concert uke last year and learned some basics from tons of YT book marks and DL’d PDFs, but I need human guidance. I love the sound of the smaller bodied guitars. So this sounds great! I will hit him up on YT. Thank you.
Subscribed.
What’s proper etiquette for reaching out to someone on YT? I don’t see a PM option and said video was taken down.
I spoke with Flo yesterday and he's indeed looking to pick up a few students. Not sure why he took the video down but you can just comment on one of his recent videos that you're interested and I'm sure you'll find a way to connect.
👍
Your post left me quizzical. If Flo (peace be upon him) wanted the support of the forum he could have stayed here, where, indeed, he was very valued. But if he chooses not to, do we have some responsibility to find and support him? Lots of us are going through some tough times, including me, but were I to stop posting, or heaven forfend, leave the forum, I sure wouldn’t expect members to seek me out and support me. Unlike Flo, I would expect to be missed for a day and then forgotten… and so be it.
If he misses our support he can just come back. Personally, and just a guess, I think he has bigger ambitions and is having a bit of difficulty actualizing them. Well, welcome to the club. I solved that one by being happy with what I have with or without this forum. Having this virtual home, however, does add a great deal to my life. Not sure why Flo didn’t want that, but it was his choice.
Yeah Mike, I totally understand your point. I have massive problems in my life as well — but I’m still here.
I believe there are a number of people who have been on this site in the past, and disappeared numerous times, like Flo has.
I try to keep an open heart and try to understand what led them to these choices and respect their decisions, but at the same time I’m sympathetic and trying to understand just what their issues were and what leads them to take actions that are detrimental to their ultimate goals.
Your are incredibly open and honest about your problems and issues, but there are a ton of people out there who are very introverted. When I took management training years ago, one of the first things I was taught was that there are people who are outgoing and open and others who are introverted and keep things inside themselves (Myers’s/Briggs). While the training has helped me in dealing with others, it is extremely basic and pigeonholes people unnecessarily.
Musicians are incredibly deep and complicated — much like painters. Part of what makes them great are the demons— who haunt them. I have no idea where Flo is on any chart or scale. All I know is that despite leaving the forum, he is a phenomenal talent and I’ll support him anyway I can. He shouldn’t be summarily dismissed by us simply because he chose to leave.
Hope you can understand.
Learning guitar from a former ABF Guitar God like Flo sounds like an incredible opportunity! With someone who's achieved that level of mastery, you're bound to pick up some seriously awesome techniques and insights. And hey, if you're ever looking to expand your musical horizons beyond guitar or explore different teaching styles, I've found online music lessons to be a fantastic resource. It's all about soaking up knowledge from different sources, right?
