Audiobus not responding to iPad volume control

I have not used Audiobus in a while but when touch the volume button on the side of the iPad nothing happens. Even the volume in the top right swipe down menu does nothing. Is that new? Is that normal?

The volume buttons and slider do affect the iPad speaker volume from Audiobus (iPad 6, iPadOS 15.5). Are you using the iPad speakers?

  • Yes iPad speakers

  • I just updated to iOS 15.5. Still no volume control.

I tried with wired headphones. Still no volume control.

    🤷🏻🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏻🤷🏿‍♂️

  • Are you hearing audio from the iPad speakers?

Are any USB accessories connected to the iPad?

Yes but the volume control does not affect the volume output

Are any USB accessories connected to the iPad?

    No USB no bluetooth

  • To be clear it works in any other app than Audiobus. I do not know if it’s new since I don’t use Audiobus often.

  • I've not bothered to install AudioBus on my M1 (don't see any real need to do so) but It could be that it, just like GarageBand 'hijacks' the OS volume controls. If it does so adjusting the output level in AudioBus would also controls the hardware volume...

Actually, Audiobus does not have an "output" level control, just the mixer sliders in the various audio lanes. And it does not hijack the iPadOS volume control in my case, only in the OP's case.

  • I know it’s simple and maybe you tried this but when I encounter any odd issues the first this thing I do is a restart, possible it could fix the issue.

  • I get a similar bug sometimes. The iPad’s audio is turned down to zero. No other apps make any sound, as expected. But sometimes LP will still play, and loud. I reported it in an early beta, and it has only happened once since.

Were any IAA apps used in the session?

  • Is it just the volume buttons?!
Have you checked the control center?

I don’t recall. The last occurrence was quite a while go. But if/when it happens again I will definitely check.

    I don't use IAA. Can't stand them.

    Both are doing absolutely nothing.

    First thing I tried 😁

The volume is not at zero. It does nothing. Even the volume overlay slide does not show up.

Try toggling “Multiroute Audio” to the opposite setting it has now.

I figured, but wanted to mention just in case.

I feel like theres a setting in one of the apps involved that needs to be changed. Just guessing though.

  • Just to be clear, this with just Audiobus launched and nothing loaded in it? No peripherals connected and you open the music app the iPad’s volume buttons don’t work.
