  • Very nice, dirty, and gritty. I love the textures used in this piece. If there is only one little bit of critique, it's that I'd pop an EQ on the master buss and dip the frequencies around the 400 Hz range about -3dB to -5dB with a narrow Q to reduce the mud. Then I'd raise the high end around 8000 Hz with a wide Q to about +1dB just to slightly brighten it. But, even as-is, it's a really cool piece.

  • @jwmmakerofmusic, thank you much for this very thoughtful feedback that will help me improve my tracks. What is your favorite tool for this task? Do you use a fancy one or stick to the basics such as the eq included with AUM? I admire your adventurous creativity/restlessness and dedication to perfecting your craft. I also appreciate your willingness to share hard-earned expertise. Musically and beyond, I think you can accomplish just about anything you set your mind to. Much respect. Thanks again!

Well after the month-and-a-half of experimenting with what works for me and what doesn't, I come to find I prefer using AUM's Parametric Filter and AUM's Lowpass, Highpass, Lowshelf, and Highshelf filters for basic tasks on individual tracks. For the master buss, I prefer to go with a dedicated EQ plugin - which could either be TB Equaliser (it's universal) or FabFilter Pro-Q 3 (it's more expensive, has more features (including spectrum-matching), but it is iPad only).

Although these days, I hardly ever use an EQ on the master buss since DAW Cassette has a built-in 4-band graphic EQ on its "backside".

But all that said, I believe AUM's filters and EQ would work just fine on the master buss. "Linear phase" modes are a bit overhyped, and truth be told I hardly ever use "linear phase", even on the master buss. (And I've tried said mode many times before.)

Thank you so much for your kind words mate. :) I appreciate you a lot.

  • Hi ymapologoes,
    I always enjoy your tracks.
This one has a build-up that is very inviting.
    It seems hypnotizing.
The high pitched sound is quite piercing, maybe you can round it up a bit.
I would not know how to do it, though.
    Thanks for this recording.

  • That was great! I enjoyed the crunchy textures. 👍

  • @jwmmakerofmusic, did another live mix, taking your eq advice. Glad I did. I think this one is an improvement. Many thanks!

@ReneAsologuitar, thank you. I didn’t know how to approach that issue either, but the musicmaker really helped me out. Hope the previous version didn’t give you a headache. Thanks for the valuable feedback. I truly appreciate it.

I am excited about your latest creations, @Spidericemidas, and that you gave this one a listen. It wasn’t such a great mix. You are very kind. Thank you!
