JWM - Aviation (Ambient, again)

An otherworldly adventure that transcends all time and space awaits. (Okay, so I'm not that poetic with words, but the vox part totally kicks arse, lol.)

So yeah, I wanted to create one more piece of Ambient today to move on from the nightmare. 😂 I tried some different things with this one. A secret is, I took a 9-second audio snippet from a popular art youtuber's video of her voice, her scraping a piece of wood with her fingernails, and her tapping said piece of wood with her fingernails, imported the video into Koala Sampler to extract the audio, and worked my usual sonic alchemy from there. When I used PaulXStretch to stretch out the scraping sounds and pitch them down, the result transformed the sound into that of an ambient jet engine. I kept the finger tapping as-is. The vox part is really something else.

I played with the lowpass filters of course, but I also adjusted the levels live ever so slightly to keep the sound balanced.

Enjoy, and please leave a comment if you liked it. 🙂

Thank you so much mate. :) It's funny you mention ASMR, because the vocal snippet I sampled into SampleWiz 2 was the youtube artist saying "mar" in "ae-ehs-eh-mar", but I somehow transformed it into what it became. :)

  • I enjoyed this a lot. Nice spacey reverb on most of it, but it was a good and interesting choice to drop the reverb and close in on that buzzing sound for a short while at 12:00, it changes things up in a curious way bringing the sound really close between the ears to hypnotic effect 👍

  • @IAMANAI Beautiful gorgeous piece of music that NIN made. Amazing band, amazing music.

@Spidericemidas Thanks mate. :) Yep, sometimes I'm endlessly twiddling knobs to make the overall sound more interesting, and yet sometimes, I'm simply sitting back and letting the audio play out.

  • I like how this unfolds with texture as if machines are patiently learning a subtle melody. Not that I’m mechanically knowledgeable but the simulation of a jet engine is convincing and a cool, well-executed idea

Thank you so much mate. :) I appreciate it a lot. (Sorry I didn't respond sooner, lol. I got a bit lost. That's my ADHD for you, lol.)
