Flying haggis and audiobus

I like the flying haggis app but I have tried to use it with audiobus as an input or effect, and I cannot hear the effect until after I record it in cubasis. It works great stand alone, but not with audiobus. I have an I track dock and I tried my peavey headphone interface and the same thing. Am I missing a setting somewhere in cubasis,I did all the updates and recommended settings I could find?

  • Sounds like a monitoring problem in Cubasis to me, I haven't used it for a while but as I remember there is a record monitor switch on the track that you should enable.

  • I just tested it, and it looks as if there is a bug in the latest version of Cubasis which prevents you from monitoring Audiobus. It wasn't there last time I used Cubasis a couple of months ago, so hopefully it will get fixed. It might be worth letting them know.

  • I do not have Cubasis, but I know that Flying Haggis records effects through audiobus (when using it in the Input slot). Sorry about your issue, though, didn't Cubasis just get a new partial update? Maybe it will be resolved soon.

Hmm. You're right FH in input, Cubasis in output, no sound until recorded

But with ToneStack, Bias, or Ampkit there is no problem

Think Flying Haggis needs an update.

I also have the iTrack Dock, Air, everything up to date

  • Thanks for the support guys. Sending a note to FH

  • I got it to work by using system audio input, flying haggis in the effect spot and cubasis in output records and monitors.

  • Dev emailed back and is updating the AudioBus SDK version used to fix the problem.

  • Just to clarify...

In this discussion dwarman points out (July 8) that Cubasis recently disabled live monitoring of AudioBus sources as "obsolete". So it's not a bug in Cubasis, but rather a deliberate design change by Steinberg. In any case, this is most likely the root cause of the Flying Haggis problem.

I have yet to confirm, but my guess is that ToneStack/Bias etc don't suffer from the same problem because they are built with a newer version of the AB SDK. Flying Haggis still uses an older SDK (so that my iOS 6 customers can still benefit from the most recent round of bug fixes).

It's therefore likely that an upgrade to the latest AB SDK (which I'm working on now) will resolve the issue.

  • Thanks for the response DaveB

  • thanks Dave B

  • Flying Haggis has no sound with Garageband on the output also.
