Description:

Make music at the speed of sound!
Minimic allows you to directly record short clips from your microphone and play them at different notes, loop them, pitch them and add a ton of effects! You can sequence those little clips in a user-friendly tracker-like interface to shape your song.
This is one of the fastest sample based tracker for mobile, you’ll be creating a complete song in no-time! Very useful for beatbox music or song drafts.

How to make a song in a few simple steps (later explained in the in-app tutorial):
1) Open the instrument editor and press the big red button to record a new sample.
2) Polish your sample by adding loop points and removing any silent part it can have.
3) Use the main tracker-like interface to place notes. Minimic auto detects the pitch of your sample so any musical sound you have recorded will be automatically in tune!
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 as much as you like!
5) By opening the pattern list menu you can add more and more patterns sections to increase and set the order of your song blocks!
6) Save your song into .mic (project) or export .wav audio files!
7) Enjoy!

Plot twist! Think inside the box: You can have only a max of 6 sounds playing back at the same time and your clips could be of a max of 1 second (but you can make them loop in ping-pong (start to end and back)).

  • sounds interesting but this
"clips could be of a max of 1 second"
    is no go...

  • The dev of the brilliant Deflemask drops a tracker for everyone. Accessible and respectably deep. Best 99 cents I’ve spent all year.

+1 What a lovely app. I also like the in-app tutorial.

  • Wasn’t Voxkit something along these lines? I can’t find it in the AppStore anymore.

  • Bought! Curious to try it out although I’m even more excited about Pichon by the same developer which I haven’t played before :)

Voxkit was a bit different. It didn't have a sampler or sequencer. It could generate midi out in response to percussive sounds. It fell victim to not meeting update requirements for later versions of iOS. It's available in my purchased items, but won't run on iOS 15. It may still be working on older devices though.

Didn't realize dude made games, only knew him from Deflemask on Windows, and here on iOS. Appreciate the tip, looks cool, I want to support the dev as well.

  • Can you import samples or only record them?

Looks self contained and mic input only with one second per sample, max 6 samples on purpose to help force creativity.

This workflow falls in line with the recent interview of techno legend, Jeff Mills, and quote: "I’d advise anyone who makes electronic music to just go into your studio, pick one machine and try to do something with it that you’ve not done before"
