Haven’t got it, but thinking I might: looks like a lot of functionality in a small package for cheap. (Especially like the built in smart scales)

Mikro is absolutely capable of using midi mode.

When you use it on a Desktop! Not with ios!
MASCHINE MK2 SHIFT + CONTROL works only on Desktop…
I understand, but have you ever tried using midi mode with a Mikro plugged into an iPad?
Unfortunately the Mikro is not MIDI class compliant, it’s a HID like a mouse or qwerty keyboard.
In addition, NI doesn’t mention iOS anywhere in this article.
I’ve gone down this road and many message boards to understand that the Mikro controllers are specifically for desktop/laptop only and midi mode doesn’t give the same experience either (I have an MK3): the pads are less sensitive and you cannot map any of the controls, it’s like it is running in low power mode and the standard Maschine screens are not functional in midi mode 😞
Here’s a couple examples:

Maschine + is the only NI pad controller that can be used like a true midi controller on iOS at this point. 🥰
My bad, I have the Mikro MK3 and just thought of it, so it makes absolute sense that for iOS the older versions can't even go into MIDI mode, and the one that does, does not work either way according to what was stated above by @Stuntman_mike, you are both absolutely correct.
Honestly, I tried to like the Mikro, but it's not enough of a hardware to make me feel working out of the box (no knobs for controlling filters and so on), and the Maschine software doesn't gel with my workflow and feels abysmal to use with FL Studio for some reason, I expected the best of both worlds and feel like I got the worst instead.
I never even tried to plug it to my iPad.
Again, sorry for just posting the link there and ignoring the context.
No worries mate, I wish it worked!
I still love Maschine, the workflow is a lot fun and easy. I just want to prevent the uninitiated from heartbreak 😂
No probs mate, we are all here to learn from each other. Each one teach one…
