Midi Link Sync alternatives

Comments

  • Would Link to Midi work, I think it’s still in App Store.

  • Thanks guys!

  • Definitely Audiobus. Its rock solid and has timing offset for each device. I tested inbound clock tracking and jitter pretty extensively some time back, and Audiobus was the only one that didn't jump all over the place with inbound MIDI.

Probably Loopy Pro too, I would think, but haven't tested.

AUM will work if it's the MIDI clock master, not slave.

One thing if using Audiobus: make sure there's at least a Speaker output on the audio page. Nothing needs to feed into it. It just needs to be there to be sure Audiobus doesn't suspend itself because it thinks it's idle.

  • Thank you ! It’s good to hear audiobus is tight when keeping the sync. I want this feature for a hardware sync. @wim said:

Loopy Pro currently is not as solid as Audiobus but Michael is aware and will figure it out soon.

  • Any other alternative to Midi Link Sync? Or Audiobus is the way to go…i think Midi Link Sync is not available anymore

Audiobus is hands-down the best MIDI to Link bridge IMO. It's rock solid, has the ability to offset each source to correct timing issues, and has by far the best MIDI clock smoothing for external clock sources. I've tested the clock smoothing pretty extensively, and nothing else compares. Everything else jumps all over the place no matter how stable the external source.

Just be sure, if you're using it only for MIDI bridging that you add at least an audio out, not connected to any input. There needs to be something active in Audiobus to keep it from suspending in the background.

  • Thanks Wim ! I’ll run melodic lines in in Aum that are synced with a Roland Tr8…. Can I use Audiobus I just for that matter or I will have to use Audiobus for those melodic lines?> @wim said:
