Arturia Keystep Pro sequencing Novation Peak and iPad synths. Routing help!
Ok, so be patient because I am rather new to the whole game and I have a rather primitive understanding of MIDI routing.
I am interested in buying an Arturia Keystep Pro to sequence iPad drum machines, iPad synths and the Novation Peak.
At the moment I have the Novation Peak connected to my audio interface, the audio interface connected to my iPad and a midi cable connecting the midi out of keyboard to the midi in of the Peak. I can play notes and record the Peak on my iPad, great!
However, I can't control the iPad synths through said keyboard. In order to do that I would have to connect the keyboard midi out to the audio interface's midi in. I can now play the soft synths but not the Peak. Not great!
The keystep Pro has two midi outs, so I could run one midi cable to the in of the Peak and another to the in of the audio interface. Now, I should be able to play both. Please confirm :-)
The next step is to choose an environment like Zenbeats (which I have) or AUM (which I don't have but I am guessing would be good for this purpose). From there, after having created an audio track and Audio Units track, I should be able to send the Peak and the AUs to different midi channels on the Arturia Keystep Pro.
I can now sequence the AUs and the Peak to my heart's content.
More or less correct? I would like to know if I am getting this right before I decide to purchase and spare me a few headaches in the future.
Thanks!

Once the keyboard MIDI is inside the iPad, you can use apps like AUM, Audiobus, or MidiFire to route the MIDI to the iPad synths and also to the MIDI Out on your interface, so you can send it to the Peak that way. Actually, if your MIDI gear has USB interfaces, you can connect them to the iPad through a USB hub (and suitable adapter). Then you can route MIDI messages to/from them as desired.
Excellent, that's clear. Thanks!
