Buffering issues (Koala specific?) *Escalating Quickly: Dead USB port?
https://youtu.be/CsS0hgqLZis
Having what sounds like a buffering issue with Koala. You can hear a subtle drop at 3 seconds and then a pop at 5 seconds. It happens randomly with Koala. Koala running in aum and in this clip buffering is set to 2048 but still having random digital distortion. Running ios 14.5.1 on a ipad pro 11” 2018 cellular 512. Any ideas to fix this would be much appreciated!
*update: tried a hard reset and now plugging in headphones aren’t recognized, the Wi-Fi on setting is greyed out and when I try to do reset network the whole iPad freezes… yikes! 😅
**wifi part fixed
***the usb c port doesn’t take power now. I have a magic keyboard and that can deliver power.
Comments
Most apps or AUv3's are not optimized for 2048 buffer (128-1024 is a 'safer' range).
Might also be worth to leave 14.5.1 behind and get on 15.6 when it drops later this week...
Sorry, it is happening at every buffer setting, even the highest option.
Are you using Bluetooth headset?
Since I can't reproduce the issue (Tried on both iPad Air 2, and 11" M1 iPadPro both on iPadOS15.5 with and without Airpods) I have no clue on what is causing it...
Guess you've already tried rebooting the iPad?
Apple headphones plugged in with apple usb c to 1/8” adapter.
Maybe try updating to iPadOS15.5 to fix the issues
Yes and hard reset.
Then try iPadOS15.5, it does some 'housekeeping' during install...
That’s what I’m thinking but I have had problems with updating an 8th gen ipad in the past so was trying to avoid…
I’m running 15.5 on my iPad 8. No issues. I’ll check Koala but the last time I used it (recent) no issues.
Didn’t know that was this week, cheers. Dam they really pump out iOS updates…
I had an issue a while back with an update. Maybe 14.5 or something. It eventually worked, and haven’t had a problem since. I think there was an issue with that particular update, cause it was discussed on this forum at the time. I made space, cleared memory/cache, nothing helped but like a week later or so it worked fine, and that was the only time it did that.
Yeah, I would not be surprised if we also get 15.7 before it's time for 16 as 15.x will be the last iPadOS version for some devices.
iPadOS16 will be a blast when it drops and I do look forward to it...
The usb port is now not taking power. Not recognizing anything plugged into it.
Try cleaning the port. People differ in their advice how to do this. I use compressed air, and sometimes very careful probing with a toothpick. Others say not to do those things.
If you have an iPhone, the magnifier with the light on can be very helpful for identifying any debris.
