Is there a way to disable MIDI out on the midi input section in AUM?
Hey y'all. Not sure how exactly to phrase this, I've added pics below for clarity.
Basically, in older versions of AUM, when you push the little area to the left of synth patches (my finger is pointing to the spot in question on the first image), you can automatically choose what midi controller you want and filter cc channels sent to your midi keyboard (the second image was the default popup when you press the area noted in the first image, but now it's hidden behind a new layer of options).
In the new version, this is hidden behind a midi in midi out menu, which is unacceptable to me. Being a Linnstrument user who uses splits, this is a MAJOR blow to my workflow. Is there some way to avoid this new menu? Or is there a better workaround to QUICKLY choosing midi cc values for the synth patch in question? Thanks in advance! My live gig workflow speed has been cut in half because of this little change. It's intolerable.

If I understand correctly, The midi learn feature might work, open then app window and in the top left corner there is a couple buttons. One has midi routings, where you can scroll down and hit midi learn or press the knob looking button ((0)) at the top of that window to start midi learn.
If you do it the way you showed in pics just tap on Animoog Z, then it looks just like it did before from there. Just scroll down to set channels.
Do you mean the extra tap? So what was one tap is now two?
Thanks for the reply @Poppadocrock
Maybe I didn't read your response correctly but that didn't seem to work. I'm wanting to be able to set the midi controller to the Linnstrument, and also set the CC filter, in one push without needing to scroll past the midi out or midi in area in my first image. I didn't see anywhere in the menu you showed in your image that can do that. You're saying the midi learn feature can pick up if I am routing cc 9-16, or cc 1-9 depending on what split I want to play the synth on my Linnstrument?
Is there a way to simply save my cc filter settings as a template for quick loading? I mean I can't even choose which midi controller I want without going through 2 menus now, that's gotta be annoying for ANYONE using a midi controller....
Yes. It's takes twice as long. Two taps instead of one might not seem like much but when I'm improvising in a live setting and every micro second counts, this is the difference between saving someone from a fire and the house burning down with everyone in it
I noticed the same, the extra step kills my workflow, would be great to have the option to recover the previous behavior
No, I get it. Just making sure I understood.
Glad it's not just me that is bothered by this! It seems like a very tiny thing but it's actually a huge change. The ability to recover previous behavior would be wonderful. I would even settle for some sort of default that can be saved, so that I can auto load a synth with the right midi controller already set up and the cc filter to the channels I need... in fact that would even be better now that I think about it, since for me at least the cc filters to 1-8 or 9-16 is the real bottle neck
Should we be messaging the developers about this?
You can save and restore channels complete with all their connections and filters. Save a session with all the channel(s) you want. Then when you hit the + sign pick import, choose the saved session, and pick the channels you want.
From the help file:
In Aum you now have the midi bus where you can do your channel filtering etc. to simplify making those settings. Then you only have to connect your new synth to one of the midi busses. There are also new options when you long press a node. Using replace it keeps al the settings like midi source and channel filter for that channel.
I agree it’s an extra step that creates a little friction compared to the old behaviour. Hopefully this could be changed back or allow old style assignments as an option.
Yea, I create a templates folder. Then I set up things how I want them, save a template, then open it up make changes, rename, and save
I think I misunderstood your question. My bad. Don’t think you can do that in one tap.
Also not familiar with Linnstrument.
I can't speak for the OP, but it seems to me that MIDI bus totally solves this dilemma as far as I can tell. Great call @Alfred .
