Youll need a power source and lightning to USB with charging port if you are using a lightning based iPad.. and a small usb hub of course to connect more than one device but that's it..
And yes you can Access the new circuits with midisynth, it's an in app purchase though as are the launchpad and launch control editors.. well worth the money though .. so much quicker than components..
Thank you! This is right up my alley, my only fear is going down a rabbit hole of tweak after tweak after tweak
Thank you, good to know🙂
I really like the Genki Wave bluetooth midi controller. It really adds some extra expression to almost anything. It requires some practice to control the differents gestures properly. It has some limitations though but it does things that other controllers can not do. I'm using it with synths to control almost any cc parameters. You can controle up to 6 parameters just with your hand. Now learning how to integrate it in Loopy Pro. Very underrated midi controller imho. And it's extremly portable and very fun to use.
digitone/digitakt is so cool with ipad, u get top notch midi sequencer and it works as audio interface too
I bought a lot of controllers but the one I use least is the Launchcontrol XL. For me it makes no sense with an iPad as a mixer, probably with Cubasis in the Mackie HUI mode. The problem is that as long as there is no native support, like in Cubasis, you cannot rearrange your channels without Midi learning all the controls again. Without native support usually you also have no scrolling over channels, so you have only 8 channels. For me that is not enough. If you plan to do some live sessions, I would say an instrument like the circles or the digitakt that you can sync with an iPad makes much more sense. My Launchpad X also serves me well with LK or Loopy Pro but yeah, they support it natively.

Like yourself I've discovered that the LC XL is not that great as a mixer.
It works if you are familiar with old school automation on an SSL desk
from the 80's but a midi controller with motorised faders would be preferable.
Saying that I've been putting together performance templates
that use the LC XL as an instrument in itself.
For instance the Moog DFam has an 8 step sequencer
so I made one in dRambo that uses the LC XL.
There's a 16 step version as well.
The other thing to bear in mind is that it does have 16 scenes.
Because here are the experts i wont open a new thread now.
I search for a controller solution to tweak the Ruismaker/FM. The optimum would be, if the drum-pad-controller-thing could change the CCs of the knobs when pressing one of the pads, so,that i can tweak the selected drum sound with the knobs.
something like the akai lpd8 would be perfect for Ruismaker. But i dont know if it can be configured that way.
Lets say i press the first pad (BD), then the knobs should trigger the values for the BD. When Pad 2 is pressed, the CCs of the knobs change and let me trigger the values for the SN, and so on. In AUM every Drumchannel can be assigned... Just a controller that makes full use of it is missing in my setup ...
BTW: i own a Launch Control XL, but its only for mixing Nanostudio2. i wonder if i can make a second user mapping for ruismaker, but no good idea yet...
