Death of F. Chopin
This improvisation continues my tribute to John Lewis, master of the minimal melodic line.
Ravenscroft 275, BeatHawk Total Bass, TeraSynth Pro.

Love it. The 2 minute bass thwunkadunk is awesome.
Wait... Chopin died? You would think that would make the news.
(I can't listen to this one until the cat wakes up and gets off my headphones).
Very refreshing.
Theunk you @gusgranite! I think death might, indeed, be very refreshing @StudioES. Thanks for listening.
This, of course , is inspired by Chopin’s Funeral March.
Very nice. I haven’t been commenting on your songs lately, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been listening. Im still very much enjoying your unique style and approach to old songs.
Love this, despite the 'death' theme.
Piano and bass, lovely!!!
What a tribute song, truly beautiful.
Bare and vulnerable, but strong and full of command.
Nicely done.

Did John Lewis kill Chopin?
I listen to this on my iPhone and the quotes of the death march add a nice levity to the somber mood.
I needed a little levity since death is been stalking my missus again with 5 OR visits in 14 months. The current plan has minimum 3 more OR visits.
@linearlineman: keep providing evidence that art can improve our time on earth because we won’t get to Mars in my lifetime… at least not at senior citizen discounted prices. Maybe Google will start uploading consciousness in 10-15 years just to get more material for their YouTube MetaWorld services. Then we can be downloaded into Google Assistants with killer bods for the benefit of incels with too much discretionary income and poor social skills.
Thanks @dav and @ReneAsologuitar, I appreciate the listens
@pbelgium, thanks for liking. Death and music are old friends. I’m thinking of the New Orleans funeral bands. Glorious send offs.
@McD, don’t give upon Mars yet. Good luck today.
Hardly, he was just over for a visit.
btw @LinearLineman , It's great the way you took that dirge that's almost a cliche nowadays and somehow made it fresh and light.
Thanks @Stochastically, it’s interesting how iconic Chopin’s phrase is for evoking thoughts of drear death. Like “The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out”. That one is crude, but it does the job.
Hearing Your tune on vacation in the evening at the pool in Bordeaux, and yes - it fits very good!! I like it a lot👍🏽🧔🏼🙏🏽.
Just had to search about John Lewis, but yes, I am an old fan of the MJQ…
Well said.
@LinearLineman
There's so much expression in this piece.
The discussion between the piano and double bass is wonderful.
Deep, measured, questioning at times, a chuckle here or there.
The emotion is so deep, filled to the brim with memories.
Truly one of your master pieces for sure.
Thank you for sharing.
🙏🏾
This is a re-issue/remix right? Deja entendu?
Nice. I love how the piece unfolds and changes.
This is a nice piece.
I love the Ravenscroft piano.
It's my favourite of the piano apps I have. There's just something about that sound and feel.
Obviously it has a lot to do with owner of the fingers on the keys too.
Thank you @Satie2 @michael_m @Mountain_Hamlet i appreciate your listening.
@McD, yes, a remix, once again taking out all the synths and substituting the bass for Total Bass.
Also midi edited the bass by cutting out all the higher notes and preserving just the bass line (I didn’t know how to midi edit back then).
@Gravitas i very much appreciate your high praise. Thank you, sir.
Hope you were wearing a tux for this. Really caught the MJQ feel - kept expecting vibes to join in. So lyrical and assured in performance. A compelling demo of Total Bass too - I’m sold despite owning 2 fretless basses - another nail in the coffin for my instrumental facility!
Thanks @AndyHoneybone, yeah, MJQ was a powerful influence, and that tuxedo laden European Tour cover was a recognition that jazz had made the serious big time.
Still remember your awesome post with counter rhythms. Unforgettable!
Great stuff, one of your best I think and that’s saying a lot. Very sparse in a good way and subtle references back to the original 🙏
Thank you @GeoTony, glad you listened.
Ok. Funeral is over! Put up something we can dance or fornicate to. Make something new for my anniversary 38th 8/5. It can have elements of horror and insanity if you need context.
@McD. 38 years, wow. I think that’s the midi controller anniversary. Treat yourself to an Arturia MKII 6. It has a metal case… will last another 38.
Is that an order? You know I just blew our retirement savings on a new iPad. I think my wife might like something that brings us together like an M1 Mac to watch rom-coms on like “Die Hard” or “True Lies”. I haven’t touched a non-screen keyboard in months.
I think I’m due for another burst of Mozaic scripting. I saw a video on median chords that really got me thinking about navigation freely by 3rds. Pure “Lord of the Rings” magic based on median relationships… then put out the chords across 8-15 midi channels into Cubasis to make importable midi files for StaffPad orchestras or AUM rigs of AUv3 apps and viola (pronounced “Wah Lah”). Automated talent.
