Leanest recordable/editable cc automation?
Hi all,
I absolutely love @cem_olcay ‘s ‘…bud’ set of sequencers, especially the Marbles-like ShiftBud. It is easy to copy and paste variations of patterns in these to a kind-of in-app song mode, addressable as MIDi cc #10, and I can sort-of auto bounce around these using my old standby MIDILFOs, but I’m wondering - is there any way to create a ‘master controller’ track for cc10 that can just switch from pattern to pattern (transpose would be nice too, but hey), so I can record and edit and otherwise simply create a more intentional sequence through the in app saved patterns than rando?
I’m sure I can probably do this in Cubasis using the automation there, but that is sledgehammer/nut style. Ideally I’m looking for something lean and simple, that can sequence changes in other sequencers. Any ideas?

I’m doing just this (I think) with StepBud… 0 is Pattern 1, 4 is 2, 8 is 3 etc… is this what you mean?

Ah, I think so… so, are you using StepBud to sequence other Bud apps? What/how are you addressing the CCs in other apps?
I think? It’s the same… so if apps wants CC21 and values of 5, 10, 15 etc then that’s what you set up in StepBud.
Just use the MIDI button at the bottom to set up the CC you want. Are we on the same wavelength 🤔
Yup, think so. Off to experiment with it now. Thanks for the help
You’ve just reminded me that when I tried a CC#21 it didn’t appear to work I.e. it just sent a value of 21 all the time whereas CC#10 does I.e. sends the value you have entered. I vaguely remember finding this a year or so ago and thought I had told @cem_olcay (sorry for tagging you 🙏) but it still seems to be there. Also I normally switch off the three Midi CC sends options and remove any notes I.e. just so that the only thing sent is the CC. Good luck…
A few other options:
Use Drambo to sequence the parts by using a streambyter script to convert midi cc to note and then use Drambo's step sequencer. Set each bud to use a different midi channel and separate tracks in Drambo.
Use LK clip action and clip follow actions. Clip action can send midi cc data, so no streambyter needed.
