JWM - Visit to Europa

What happens after your space shuttle crashes onto the surface of Europa? Do you hold out hope for someone to rescue you? Or do you make the best of a shite situation counting down the final minutes to a peaceful eternal slumber?

Enjoy this sonic exploration mates.

Comments

  • Figured I'd bump this up once to fish for some comments. 🤣 Then again, this piece is a much longer one, and nothing too interesting happens in it (which is the point really as it's meant to be more of a soundscape than a piece of music).

  • I really like the soundscape, but i got a short attention span, haha. What i did, is jumping to different sections so see the progress. That's what i'm mostly curious about.
When i do experimentations with sound, i could sit for hours with the same drumloop or synth line running and adding things and tweak etc., because i got excited about the discovery i made.
The experience that i have at the moment is different for another when he listen to it, but there are sure people who dig it, but not so many.

Yep, I don't expect a full listen-through since our time is often limited throughout the day. :) But so long as you got the general gist of it.

    Same here!

True. I love going off-the-wall with my sonic experimentations. 😁

Europa seems to be a peaceful world.
The soundscape is emoting life and I would be communicating an SOS.
    Love this.

Could work as scary elevator music or in a video game background, but not interesting enough to hold my attention. Few contrasts, little to no tension or release.

And that's the point of this soundscape. It's not supposed to be interesting or actively listened to. It's supposed to create an atmosphere in the background while you zone out or work on monthly bills.

  • Just coming towards the end of my binge watch of The Expanse and this put me in mind of the protocol molecules interior of a ship you see in the show at one point. Cold and alien and… oddly fascinating. Nice fragments of dissonance and melody arising from the soundscape.

That's an amazing way to put it mate. :) I'm glad you gave it a listen. Thank you so much. :)

  • This is great. One of your best longer ones I think. You are adept at creating absorbing atmospheres/soundtracks for space travel.
