RodeCaster Pro II - good for music production and YouTube?
https://rode.com/en/interfaces-and-mixers/rodecaster-series/rodecaster-pro-ii
So here's something I came across today - a new product from RodeCaster. The original version was designed for podcasting, but this one is designed for all kinds of content creators, including music producers.
It looks pretty portable - I assume it wouldn't be powered solely by the iPad (so you'd need one of those camera connection kits that also has power), but maybe it should enter the conversation for useful audio interfaces. It has mic, line in and instrument connections, and shows up as an audio interface. You can even record to it internally.
What do you think, guys? It's getting really good reviews. Seems to be around £699 in the UK.

Have a watch of Jade Starr's YT channel. She uses the Rodecaster Pro 2 for her daily livestreams.

Tested it at Gearfest U.K. a few weeks.
It seemed pretty cool.
Looks more for podcasting than a all in one music mixer and audio interface. If the ins and out are enough for you probably a solid choice. Jade reported lots of bugs with the software so a few teething problems out the box but the company good a pushing out updates. Seems a lot of money for what it does. I’m sure their are cheaper alternatives more geared for music than podcasting which I’m sure this is the gold standard.
Agreed, there are definitely much more
affordable mixer, midi, audio interfaces
out there for sure.
I'm late to this party.
I have the RCP II as I used podcast. Would I recommend for music gear, no. If you have it, you can make it work but if you have more than four pieces of hardware gear, it's going to be an issue.
My problem, and it must be rare, is the RCP II is not playing nice with my M1 Mac mini in terms of recording audio from the computer. It will stop at random times. I've been through three warranty replacements and no solutions. I have to record in the box as my alternative. It works great recording ext gear.
I am in the market for a device that has the dual USB C inputs (works great with iPhone 15 for recording my videos with audio) and doesn't crash when recording from Mac. At the time of this post, that does not exist so I ride with my lemon.
