Quartal Pounder

An antidote to ambient 😊
Not even sure what Quartal chords are but I think I’ve used them here…
Soft Drummer with PolyBud playing Ravenscroft 275, BeatHawk Bass and 3 * Roli Noise.
Me playing Roli Noise guitars with GeoShred.
Effects - TB Reverb, MixBox and Attack Softener

  • This makes me think of Robert Fripp of King Crimson playing one of his more “jazz fusion” type pieces. I really like how that guitar sound sits right at the edge of feedback and pushes through to accentuate just the right notes. You certainly have a way with GeoShred!

  • Nice one. Makes me thirsty for a quart of ale.

  • Damn! This is killer! Yeah, bro! Good stuff!

  • Thanks everybody…
Very happy with the Fripp / Crimson reference @MadeofWax . Fusion was exactly what I was going for . I stumbled on this excellent site https://www.youtube.com/c/QJamTracks run by Rob van Hal, a Dutch guitarist and one of the videos was about Quartal chords so I thought I would them a go.
The feedback in this case is all from Roli Noise, GS is just making the most of them by using MPE. I wish Roli would have invested more in Noise, I think they would have been into a winner!
By the way have you seen the YT videos Fripp does with his wife Toyah each Sunday lunchtime. Well worth a watch 😊

  • Very impressive. Definitely not Ambient. Dauntingly active, in fact! :)

(Discipline was my fave album for a while back in the day, and is still up there in my all times list, so I can in fact actually appreciate the odd thing which isnt ambient. :) :

  • Very nice guitar music, with sophistication and lovely runs.
I love the drums running the groovy beat.
    Well done!

  • @GeoTony : nice playing. I love the lines your playing .. there is an almost Holdsworth-like vibe that has always eluded me … kind of like being both inside and outside the changes.

Fwiw, quartal harmony is chords built by stacking fourths rather than thirds (triadic harmony).
