  • Wow @SevenSystems - that’s some awesome work there! This is a really great step forward for iOS.

(Just in time for MIDI 2.0 to suddenly finally become popular. 😂)

I'm an idiot. I can't see where to purchase the IAP…
Edit: … because I thought I'd updated but checked again and I hadn't. As you were. (Told you I was an idiot.)

  • Wow great. I would like to do the following, but I cannot make it work for the life of me :

    • host xequence 2 inside drambo
    • Input notes from a mpe controller (i have a sensel morph) through drambo
    • Record the mpe performance
Is such a thing possible inside D ?
      Cheers

You cannot host Xequence 2 inside Drambo (or any other app), but if Drambo supports Virtual MIDI Input, then it should be very easy to connect Xequence to Drambo (or anything hosted inside it). Hope anyone else can chime in on the Drambo part as I'm no Drambo expert!

  • Thank you so much. Just wondering if I ‘m going to take the plundge or not… as drambo is my main host ;)

Think of xequence as a companion.

Actually, you can host X2 inside AudioBus, AUM, etc. just not Drambo as it doesn’t support IAA apps.

This is just for convenience for app switching though. For all intents and purposes it is a separate companion app as mentioned.

Thanks, appreciate it... I might actually sneakily make the IAP easier to find 🤔

Meanwhile, if you really want a tip jar, here's an app that absolutely nobody needs, but it DOES have a $1 In-App Purchase 😇

-My question is would this record the MPE from playing an MPE in app keyboard, like Animoog Z? I’m still buying it but would like to know.

Yes, recording from an MPE-capable app like Animoog Z or GeoShred definitely works as well. Thanks for the heads-up, I might actually change the wording there.

(I tested GeoShred in particular quite extensively. It's a bitch to set up correctly, but when you do, it works 😇)

Awesome. I thought it would be but the way it was worded on the site made it sound like you needed a hardware controller to record, but could edit and send it to app/hardware. Cheers!

    What @wim said.

I put it in AUM on an audio track all the time as IAA. No audio comes out that channel obviously, but i find it convenient. Then route the the midi by midi channel to all your synths/drums/etc. the only advantage is it provides you the app icon inside AUM which makes it just a little bit quicker to switch apps.

Otherwise just open it in standalone but connect the virtual midi inside your host to receive and in X2 to send.

  • Congrats on the release @SevenSystems

I really need a new device to be able to get ios13+

Btw, is track folding/folders (not sure how to call it) still on the plans?
And what can we expect on the future regarding new apps?

  • its a fantastic app!:)
    congrats.
pls pls pls make it host auv3 synths.
    thnx :)

  • @SevenSystems
A very nice update, thank you.

I got the mpe upgrade to use with a seaboard blocks studio.
Now when I was trying this new setup with Xequence, Audiobus and Aum, I was realy longing for more virtual midi out devices in Xequence.

When using lower and upper mpe with 8 channels each. Eight virtual midi out devices would give us something akin to the original 16 midi channels.

    Would that be possible?

Also is it possible to transform mpe midi that uses all 16 channels to mpe that only uses the upper or lower range?

Haha... it would've almost been iOS 14.2+ only, actually!

You're very welcome, thanks for purchasing the Enhanced pack!

Yes I agree that this would be desirable -- but it'd probably be better to make Xequence an AUv3 plug-in so it can sit directly inside AUM and thus have unlimited available connections. It's a feature that is requested a lot and would also have many other advantages.

Note that for the time being, it should be possible to get 32 channels from Xequence to AUM by using the two routing variants at once: 1) Xequence instrument -> "Xequence Source" -> AUM (enable "Virtual Source" in Xequence Settings -> MIDI / Recording), and 2) the usual Xequence instrument -> "AUM Destination". Let me know if there's any questions about this.

Also is it possible to transform mpe midi that uses all 16 channels to mpe that only uses the upper or lower range?

Yes, Xequence will actually offer to do this automatically as soon as you reduce the number of zone channels on an existing instrument that has clips with MPE notes in them:

  • Thanks for the feedback, brother

Haha... it would've almost been iOS 14.2+ only, actually!

Are there big differences resource-wise between iOS 12-13-14-15?
I don't pay much attention to those details

    It's still on the plans:

    Oooh yeah! SEXY!

First we'll need to get this app to perfection 😎

I already consider it perfect. You mean it's gonna achieve Cosmic Entity Destroyer Level Tier? 😂

I'm gonna end up buying the AUv3 Pads and Keys to show my love for your work
Good to use whenever on an AU workflow

That's great to hear, appreciate it a lot!

Yeah, the AUv3s could actually use an update too, I think there's been a few minor bug fixes in the keyboard / pads screens that could be carried over to the AUs.

  • Please
I really can’t see the grid lines, if I try light or dark, I really am guessing when in piano roll
    I must have something wrong
    Any suggestions

Congrats on the release! Updates to the AUs would be fantastic. Still use those all the time as my preferred midi controllers in AUM.

    Could you post a screenshot?

  • Here we go

  • This is recorded from atom2
Drum and bass 2 bar loop
    Hope this helps
Hope I am missing a setting somewhere as just jumped back on this app, and loving it so far

  • edited July 2022

Grid is currently not set - tap where it says "off" and set your grid - that should show the lines then.

  • @Hypervox
    Thanks
    Now that’s so much better
Still learning so might ask a few more questions
Thanks for being helpful and super quick

Ah okay. Yes, @Hypervox is right, the grid is turned off.

BTW, when new clips are recorded, their grid setting defaults to the recording quantize setting (which is also off in your screenshot -- the "Q" menu at the top right). If you set that to, say, 16th notes, then any new recorded clips will also have a 16th grid by default.

  • I have Xequence in an audio lane as someone above mentioned, so all good
I guess it is possible to trigger loopy pro loops via Xequence?
    Any tips , advice,
could I just use one lane to trigger loops at certain points along the time line of Xequence?

Yes this is what I would personally prefer.
