I did a sort of trip hop remix of Billie Eilish’s “Ilo Milo” using a Fundamental patch as the hook.

It’s all done in koala sampler, I’m really not in my comfort zone doing this k8md of stuff, and in fact, the song has been on my iPad hard drive for ages and ages. I dunno, I’m not good with beats, or arranging, much happier on the experimental side of things but anyway, someone might be interested to hear fundamental in a “pop” context!

  • Sounds really good! Makes me want to give Koala more of a go, I haven't really taken to sampling much so far.

  • I like it 👍🏼

Thanks man! It’s my favourite app. I think it’s just the ease and speed of it that’s very attractive to me.

  • I’m a simple man…I see Billie Eliish, I comment 👍

    Great job 👏

  • I listened to this on headphones whilst browsing.

    It was really nice.
From start to finish it was a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
The sonic textures worked really in harmony together.

I read the blurb for it and you mentioned trying
to make it less robotic and it didn't felt robotic at all.
Personally speaking I wouldn't change it
I would leave it as is and move on to another track.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • This is very cool. I agree with Gravitas. It works really nicely as it is. Great job!

  • Tell us more about the process maybe, if you don't mind and have time 👍

  • Is the song available anywhere else than Instagram? (Don’t have an account so link doesn’t work for me). :)

  • Yeah, liked this, thanks for sharing.

Thank you very very much everyone! I think I will stick to formless soundscapes for now, but very kind of you all to listen and comment!

Not too much to tell, I have a loop from fundamental in there… the patch was made with that aexp setting in fundamental, set to a scale, I sampled it looped it, and had it going in koala sampler… then I got some noises from about the place ne chopped some drums and stick it all together in the sequencer. Then I added some noisy loops and finally messed around with the vibrato… it’s very simple really , I tell you what I can do… why don’t I link the koala song that way ( if you have it) you can have a look!

Definitely organic sounding to be and not robotic. Not familiar with Billy Ellish, just know that she’s well known and took off from Soundcloud, but your work definitely complimented her close miked intimate voice.

    Sounded good in my car

Nice man. Gave me feels. Made me think of better times…
I keep wanting to say something to encourage you to not rule out drums n form (as this went so well) but then I don’t know why I would encourage you to do anything other than what you like and what makes you happy.
    Anyway I like your music.

  • Regarding my previous comment about Ellish, while watching the season finale of Resident Evil, I Shazammed this song I was getting into and it was Billy Ellish, When I Was Older. What a coincidence!
