Reverbs with start/stop tempo sync

Besides crystalline which is a little rich for my blood at the moment, are there other iOS reverbs with the tempo sync start/stop feature?

Comments

  • I don't have crystalline so could you describe
what you mean by start/stop feature?

  • Based on the video from baby audio, and if I understood correctly, if you sync the reverb to the host tempo, you can choose if the reverb tail lasts a1/4, 1/2, 1 bar. This would be awesome to prevent your mix from drowning in reverb without having to automate in the host program. I don’t recall any of my other reverbs having this function, but may have missed it.

  • To my knowledge, it's the only reverb on iOS that can sync to the host tempo. I'll have to sift through my reverbs tomorrow to see.

  • If the DAW you're using can display time then you could simply
see how long a bar is and set the reverb decay time to that length,

also have a look at this

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/audiofile-calc/id337547274

It comes in useful when an app doesn't have a certain function
for instance converting freq to midi note or bar length to time.

  • @jwmmakerofmusic thanks, looking forward to what you find.

@Gravitas my daw does show time (BM3) and that’s a super good tip, thank you. I’m still trying to figure out if the convenience of the start/stop sync in Crystalline is worth $30. They didn’t do an intro price on iOS so I may wait to see if they do a Black Friday sale. I can use your work around until then.

Exactly - Crystalline is great but this sync feature is not really that big a deal lol

Crystaline invented a must have reverb capability by adding a this "sync to host" BPM option. "Sync what?" you ask: room size parameters. Genius.

You have to respect the creative intellect of developers.

Now people look backwards for prior art and maybe someone beat them to the idea and we already own it.

  • velvet machine can do that too

    No problem.

Velvet Machine is another good suggestion.
I use that quite often myself.

  • @TomNoise thanks, I have Velvet Machine already so that will tide me over and show me if the convenience of this feature is all that.

@Gavinski what can I say, i’m easily enthralled

I founf that Crystalline seems to be the only app with tempo-synced tails. But as others have suggested, you can calculate the tail length for yourself with any reverb. (Just that Crystalline makes it easier lol.)

@jwmmakerofmusic thanks for checking. I have the Audiofile calc and could do that or continue automating the tail length in my daw, but I was intrigued by the convenience of this feature. Just don’t know if $30 is worth it with all the reverbs I already have. I’ll spend stupid amounts for others, but I’m a miser when it comes to things for me, especially if I perceive the want results from laziness or self indulgence.

  • Save a few bucks and get it. I wasn't originally very interested in it until I got the desktop trial version then I bought both the desktop and iOS versions. It's really quite good.

  • I really like it too. Even just the sheer number of presets will give tons of ideas for creative use of reverb that you may not have thought of. Also the 'shimmer' that's not a shimmer is really nice. Overall it's a pleasure to use and it's very easy to dial things in.
