    But shortly after, Xequence crashed!

Thanks for the report -- incidentally, did the crash happen as soon as you tried to switch to the Drums layout on the keyboard screen (or when opening the keyboard screen on an instrument that was already set to Drums layout)? I've found a possible crash there that I'm going to fix shortly in an update.

OK, I just downloaded Scaler 2 and tried around a bit.

    There's a few issues:

    • there's no mention anywhere in the user interface of Virtual MIDI, but I did find something under "Bluetooth MIDI" after tapping on the cogwheel in the upper right corner
    • Scaler 2 apparently doesn't offer a virtual MIDI destination, however it CAN connect to a virtual MIDI source. If you enable "Virtual Source" in Xequence's settings (MIDI / Recording -> MIDI Output -> "Virtual Source"), then back in Scaler 2 "Xequence Source" will appear under "Bluetooth MIDI" (???) in the "MIDI Input" list, and you can enable it
    • In Xequence, use "Xequence Source" as the destination for the Xequence instrument you want to use for Scaler 2
    • Playing the keys in Xequence works very briefly after switching from Scaler 2, but then stops working -- I suspect Scaler 2 does not support Background Audio or does not enable it unless it's connected to Audiobus or hosted somewhere.

Maybe contacting the developer would be a good idea...
