Long time lurker and first time putting myself outhttps://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/HwUFFYsiFoWj1J5Z8

Been a long time lurker, don’t think I’ve ever posted anything. Although I haven’t reacted with any of you, you are all a great bunch! I would love any type of feedback anyone is willing to give, I can take it. I have absolutely no idea what I’m really doing as far as making a finished sound. Than you all!!!****

  • i liked it. you've got a very polished, professional sound and a style of your own (am i hearing a little of "explosions in the sky" influence?) if you have time, please post some more.

  • I really liked this…. A lot. Very clear and original style. Would love to hear a vocal over this. Hope you’ll post more. You’ve got a bunch of talent.

If I had to make a technical comment… I thought the tempo drifted slow once or twice. Maybe the whole track a few bpm faster? Anyway, did not detract from my enjoyment but I noticed it. Great work, IMO.

Beautifully executed and recorded guitar parts. I like the composition too.

Thank you very much. I do like explosions in the sky and perhaps subconsciously had inspiration from it. > @LinearLineman said:

Thank you! My buddy wants to do some lyrics for it so perhaps I’ll post again if that happens. Also, I too feel the slight loss in tempo but am not really sure how to go about fixing it. Would it be as easy as just upping the tempo?> @McD said:

Thank you kindly. Been working on it for weeks. It started in loopy pro as just the first guitar part and kept expanding once I brought the stems into cubasis.

    Nothing to lose by trying.😉😎🙏

  • I don’t think it’s wise to obsess over making a project perfect unless someone wants to pay for the re-work.

Is the joy in the feedback or the process of creating? For me feedback that asks for a version to make a listener happy is less than helpful unless the share in the fact that this additional layer may be work for no payoff.

If someone says “hey, can I sing on this?” They are helping and opening a potentially rewarding phase of creation.

This is on par a much better “product” than you will generally find on this forum in terms of music production standards. I’d like to hear how diverse your talents are beyond this one example. I haven’t looked to your SoundCloud catalog yet but I welcome a genuine talent to the fold.

Now someone will pop in with the “I don’t like —— but…” type of comment because they just need to be honest. Heartless but honest. “Your baby doesn’t look like you. But not in a good way. Adopted?”

Thank you for such kind words! I have fiddled around for many years with guitar but never took it too serious. Also used to make a ton of stuff on fruity loops back in the day lol.
Usually making my stuff I don’t need it to be perfect, it’s all just fun and a way to keep my mind from wandering. I do obsess over things quite easily though and am still figuring out how to mix and perhaps master. Not for a career or anything but just fun.

I only have a few things on SoundCloud and they are pretty meh, it was when I was first learning how to make things sound “good” with EQs and the like. Also got too excited and posted bad versions of what I did. This new one is by far the most time and energy I’ve put into song. I have much more things that I should perhaps post on SoundCloud.

One of my best friends makes music for a living and I send him all my stuff and he always has good feedback but this was the first track he really wants to write to and then release it to the world, which is super cool in my opinion. I had more drums throughout the whole track but he also suggested taking them out until the end because they detracted from the rest of the bits and in my opinion he was right. It’s so much better without the drums. Granted they were nothing special, almost identical to what is still there with parts dropped in and out here and there. The drums were the least effort I put into the whole thing. Was really just to keep tempo and groove. The drums are also on one track from audio layer with some metal drums I bought from drumDrop.

I can’t thank you enough for the kind words. You all are a very talented bunch and it’s nice to not be shit down like in some other places… thanks again!

If someone wants to leave that sort of comment then fine by me, everyone has their opinions. Wouldn’t be very constructive but it is what it is.

  • In terms of things being perfect or not, just watched this yesterday and it has a couple to points on the matter. Particularly the part about the guitar solo.

Wow, a friend is going to record and release it. That’s freaking awesome.

  • This track is really well done. What’s odd is I shared that video above before I listened to your song. After I listened to the track it sounds like it actually has a little sublime influence going on.

I appreciate that greatly! I do like me some sublime. I think that came from me teaching my ex how to play a song called “lost in the cold” by Twiddle which is very sublime like.

Yeah I’m super excited by friend wants to do that. He’s a very talented dude. Goes by Skuffmicksun on platforms if interested.

I do have a more joke type song I made recently as well I may post. I don’t wanna bombard you all though😂

  • That’s cool. Yea they were my favorite back in the day. I’ll have to check him out.

He’s got some decent stuff for sure. In the cold is a pretty sad song tbh.
