A new one, I can´t keep up with the tempo... just got Overdrive Special and Faceman, and the Bogner.
I am scratching my head about the JMP pro, I never ever fancied about playing on such a pre-amp. I only know this Smashing Pumpkins guy Billy Gorgan used one.
I will check the demo´s first.
Weirdly, as far as I know anyway, the JMP-1 was designed by Mike Scuffham who now is the creator of S-Gear - arguably the best guitar sim there is.
I’m very interested to see what this sounds like - especially being a huge S-Gear fan.

I don´t see the connection with S-Gear? As far as I know the JMP-1 is a solid state circuit with a few pre amp tubes, that emulates other Marshall sounds, not a real special piece of equipment. You need a proper power amp to get more out of it.
So you get an amp sim that simulates a device that simulates other devices. The short-cut would be to get an amp sim that simulates the original sounds or amps.
But, I haven´t heard it yet, it probably has a good sound.
The connection is the designer.

I don´t want to overthink, but I still have my doubts, when I try to relate to the hardware unit. A Kemper or Axe FX is much better than a JMP-1. Nembrini amp sims might be close to Kemper and Axe FX performance. So any other Nembrini amp sim is probably better than a real JMP-1 unit.
Would be nice if the JMP pro amp sim is better than the JMP-1 unit. I will wait for that report. I can spend 10 bucks but I have to limit myself at some point.
I tend to think the same.
I can't remember any guitar player I used to know back in the 90's that would have chosen to use a JMP-1 if they could afford (or wanted to carry) "real" amps.
BUT... I also remember the joy that was our when a friend of mine lent us his JMP-1 for studio recordings ! This unit was so easy to use and the sound(s) we managed to get out of it was a bless in comparaison of the time spent in micing and capturing real amp !
But (x2)... nowadays, to play on an iPad or a PC, I can't see the point in buying such an emulation.
When I look closer, I see (in my opinion) a design flaw when it comes to usability with the touch screen. They cloned the interface of the JMP-1, so you have to select a function, like bass, and then turn the data wheel. That is a double step for something that should be accessible directly for convenience. Also because different settings interact with each other, you want to see the position of the knobs to understand what is happening.
With Mozaic you can probably create a layout with knobs for direct control, but that is extra work to do.
Don´t get me wrong, I don´t want to bash Nemrini, they make wonderful apps, but I am a bit a purist, plugging a guitar into a real or emulated amp should be enough. Only if the amp lacks something, a (boost/OD/dist) pedal can be added. The JMP Pro looks to me as a big OD/Dist pedal.

Greed, those radio buttons could just as easily be a knob.
Not sure what to thnk of this. I have always wanted one of these in hardware but now that I've played through this it's really the cleans that I like. Normally I don't care about them too much but this makes me want to play them.
Don’t they try and clone the hardware layout?
