Mela 3 Update Version 3.2
Mela 3 had a pretty cool update today making the Au midi part modular and adding 2 new modules. Added new drums preset bank, as well as some other fixes and improvements.
Comments
The new drum presets are excellent. Already planning something I can use them in.
Really appreciate that this developer continues to make big improvements to this app, long after many others would simply let their app remain "over and done".
3.3 will bring even more goodies
https://forums.nikolozi.com/d/41-mela-33-beta-added-scale-and-chord-modules
(TestFlight link can be found in one of the forum posts).
I'll bet he could even add a "strum" mode for chords if we asked him nicely.
Feel free to ask for it
But that should be something for the arpeggiator module? (ie. Chords -> Arpeggiator).
Possibly. Have you ever used the AAS guitar simulator "Strum GS-2"? (You can download a time-limited trial version from PlugInBoutique.com)... You can achieve some very realistic strumming patterns by pressing different combinations of keys in an intelligently thought out system which could probably be (at least somewhat) replicated by the Mela developer. It's more than just sending notes to an arpeggiator.
Scaler 2 does enough strumming for me
But as said, feel free to send him feedback via the forum...
Something from 3.3 midi plug-in, no eta but it's nice

Kool! 😺
Do you know if the Note Echo lets you choose dotted+triplet sync times? Eg dotted 16ths?
Cheers! 🎛
Yes, I asked that...
When 'Delay' is set to 150% it's 'Dotted' notes and when it's 66.7% it's 'Triplets', 100% is 'straight'.
This way get a bit more more freedom
In the picture the 1/8 notes are 'Dotted' with Delay set to 150%.
I asked the same! By the way, I want to see all the knobs here for synced time based variations, ie delay times, arp speeds etc, have the same kind of press, drag, release functionality that Ooda and AU:Dub have. Also Fugue Machine. This way you can jump directly from one value to another without dragging through unmusical intermediate speeds. All touchscreen apps with knobs which would benefit from this should have this functionality imo. Killer update though, I’m really loving the way Mela is developing as a Midi fx.
@Nikolozi Is very responsive so head over to his forum and add any request you might have in store
https://forums.nikolozi.com
(I post requests there every now and then so, feel free to check if I'm insane or something in that direction haha).
Yea had fun playing with the beta today some great midi features to be had now.
I have requested. He’s a great dev
Thanks for letting us know Samu! 👍 Looking forward to this! 😺
Really dope.
Nice
A strummer is on my to-do list
I've been thinking about this some more, and I have a few UI ideas to explore to address it. It probably won't make it to 3.3 release, but maybe 3.4. It's a good request! Cheers Gavin.
Cheers for tagging me. I don't usually check the Audiobus forums, but happy to read Mela feedback on this forum also. Just make sure @Nikolozi at me and I'll receive an email notification
Love the new chords midi device.
Best developer!
It's so good I can almost delete QuantiChord now
(Yeah, still doing the 'app-cleanup' from time to time).
Yea big fan of @Nikolozi
Hold up, are you 2 on the beta? Cause I didn’t see the update for the chord module yet… or are you just basing that off the pic he shared…?
Anyone can join the beta, the link is over at the Mela forums…
Oh, ok. Thanks @Samu i was on Mela 2 beta, and bought v3 on release day so never knew about the open mela 3 beta. Guess it’s time to join.
@Nikolozi The new MIDI Auv3 update is great thanks!
In the Note Echo section, I'd love to see the possibility of setting a random delay amount e.g. between X and Y milliseconds or %, and to apply it per note, to humanise the input.
Same here, I bought Mela 3 after that decided to get on the beta as I see its potential
It's one FAT synth and the effects (audio & midi) are a nice bonus.
No "fat shaming" for Mela.
We love fat synths.
I’m considered fat by some (6’ 100+ kilos) so it fits me just fine
Thanks for all the love 🥰
I did resend the Mela 3 beta invites to the Mela 2 beta users but I think not everyone got notified. And I think some people ended up buying Mela and were no longer interested in beta. Either way, I figured it's easier to provide a link publicly and anyone can sign up or exit whenever they want, rather than manually collecting emails. The link is also available in Mela settings. Including in Mela 2, the link is pointing to Mela 3 beta.
I do plan to add a milliseconds mode. Regarding randomness, it's a great idea. The way I plan to support that feature is by adding modulation capabilities to Mela MIDI. So, you'll have a random source that can modulate the Delay parameter to give it that humanised feel.d
As a side note, over the weekend I got tons of spam posted on Mela Forums. I've been thinking about switching to something else for a while now, so this might give me a push to finally do it. I'm considering something like canny.io. I know Loopy Pro uses it. If anyone has opinions on it or knows of good alternatives please let me know.
