Tonestack and Auria
Has anybody noticed that while Tonestack appears as an IAA in Auria, it doesn't actually work? Works beautifully through AB into Auria, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has run into this...

Haven't tried it with IAA. Is there an advantage of using that over AB?
The advantage is primarily that it it saves the connection as part of the file, which isn't a big deal. But since it doesn't function at all, you wouldn't be able to use it as an FX or anything else....
One drawback of IAA is that there is no state saving, so you would have to re-do your settings every time you open your project, which makes the saved connection a lot less useful....
Does Tone Stack actually save the state? My experience so far is that it only saves which preset was loaded.
Regarding the original question, Tonestack is NOT yet an IAA instrument or generator. In other words, you can't play guitar through Tonestack and feed it into Auria for recording, at least not without an AudioBus connection.
Also, ToneStack is advertised as working as an IAA effects app, but while it does appear on all my effects lists for IAA, I've heard people say that it basically doesn't work right now in this 1.0 version. I haven't tried it.
In fact, while I understand the appeal of using an app like ToneStack or JamUp that is loaded with effects as an "FX" app for other audio, ToneStack is a bit of a resource hog compared to something like the AUFX series. I'm sure the faster iPads can handle it just fine, but dedicate FX apps or plug-ins seem like more efficient solutions versus the overkill of a whole program that is built to process raw guitar signals, model it into amps, and then layer effects on top of that. Yes, you can turn the amp and cabinet off, but still.
I would definitely like IAA instrument/generator capability in ToneStack, however. Fortunately, it works well enough with AB.
It would great if you actually could use Tonestack as an effect through IAA, but I haven't been able to make it work that way. To be clear, it doesn't do anything, that that I can see, through IAA, other than just appear there...
I haven't tried yet as an effect through AB, though that would be interesting to explore as well.
Change the auria core audio mode to standard rather than multiroute, that's how I got it to work. Also, if you're listening through your iPad speaker, there's an option in tonestack that needs to be checked to mute something or other ( prevent feedback? Something like that, I'm not in front of it now)
I'll try that! I use headphones or studio monitors, so the speaker shouldn't be an issue....
