Issue with DigiStix2 in Cubasis with higher latency

Hey,

I have a very strange issue with digistix2 when changing the latency in cubasis above 10ms.

I’m using multi audio out and when I set the latency higher, the timing of all the drums varies wildly. The snare lags behind the kick etc..

I’ve been using DigiStix2 for a year now and have not seen this issue before.

Enabling/disabling multicore, background processing makes no difference.

Posting here because I’m not sure if the fault is cubasis or digistix2 and wondered if anyone else has come across this problem. I’ll probably report it to Steinberg to see what they say.

Here’s a screen share of this in action.

I have and Air4 running iOS 15.5

Thanks!

  • What audio sampling rate are you using: 48 kHz, 96, what?

Changing the latency makes the audio buffers larger. What happens if you reload DigiStix2 after changing the latency? Maybe it doesn't handle the change gracefully.

Is this Cubasis 2 or CB3?

  • It’s cubasis 3, 48khz. I’ve never had this issue before, certainly a weird one.

I’ll try reloading digistix and see what happens, thanks.

I have narrowed down the problem, I think.

New empty project, add digistix 2, make a simple 4 to the floor with a bass drum and snare. Any latency above 10 and the timing is out. This also happens using the internal sequencer, so it’s not a midi problem.

Tried the same with Hammerhead, it works perfectly.

I’ve used Digistix 2 since launch and never had this problem before, plus I often push the latency up towards the end of a project to give me some dsp headroom when working on the mix.

I’ve sent Paul a message on Facebook and I’ll see what he says.

  • Hello! I have the same issue. Sounds like Digistix skips some notes randomly.
EG Pulse works perfectly, but I want to use Digistix because I need multisampled pads.
Did you receive any answer from Paul?

    Cheers, Roman
