That's fine for me.
I'll add a "tracker" of sorts here so we can see where we are:
1. Make video available for collaborators
2. Dropbox availability for submission
3. Submit tracks (Deadline: September 1st)
4. Mix and master
5. Merge audio and video
6. Create any additional art assets (audio, graphic or motion-wise)
7. Publish
@senhorlampada… You missed the final step!
Oh, wait, that was discussed earlier in the thread, my bad
I think it’s plenty of time, I calculated a couple of weeks for mixing and mastering taking in account possible “events” 😁 so it could be even past September 1st
good one @Kewe_Esse
When I look at the files in the Dropbox website, it says in the "Who can access" column, "Only you". @Svetlovska, let me know if I've done a stupid.
@FastGhost : Sigh. Honestly, I don’t know. I’m no Dropbox expert, and what it shows me when I log in may not be what it shows you. I think for now, everyone should concentrate on just getting their stuff done, and try to upload it. Everything else is icing on the cake.
When everybody is done, whether or not they have managed to access the Dropbox, or to access it as we originally proposed, we can have a sweep up and try and pull it all together, one way or another, even if it just means iCloud links or zip files whizzing about.
It may mean we don’t get to work as collaboratively or as interactively as I initially hoped, but still… we’ll figure something out.
Just a word to the wise though: I’m not able to be tech support for everyone here, because a) I don’t know what I’m doing either (!) and b) I’ve got other demands on my time at the moment. If you haven’t got a folder yet, DM me, and I’ll set it up and post you a link. After that: you’re on your own, folks!
I’m beginning to have a whole new level of respect for devs who have to engage over gnarly problems with infinitely more people than I do…
Hey: it’ll get done.
Yep sounds like a pain - for sharing pieces in terms of just hearing how the person before your part ends and the person after's begins, by far the easiest way is just to upload as an unlisted file to youtube. Obviously that is not a solution for the high quality audio files but it is the most useful solution at present to a) getting a sense of the general direction others are going in b) making sure (if you want to) that your piece works well with what's on either side of it
This is why I made my segment roughly 5 minutes and 30 seconds so that it can be synced up however desired with any foley sfx added on top where needed.
Def not for this project, but has anyone ever used soundtrap studio for anything? I just signed up to the free tariff, within which I have access to a sharable editor (which I have in no way explored) can import files (note: mute button must be off to hear audio played on the editor) and can invite others to collab live on a project.
Some lukewarm, pre-2020 ABF threads are out there, looks like several recent updates…
Is this too off-topic?
@Svetlovska just a note… did you receive my email? No stress just wondering if I sent it correctly… I’ve never shared anything off iCloud before.
Yes. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/qaploei8xrl15u1oe16or/h?dl=0&rlkey=165guplrfjq06sn6qwg9lmw99
In a classic piece of avoidance, I've just set off a render of an mp4 version of Vampyr with the timecode at the top of the frame so as not to obscure the subtitles - it'll be next to the other in the dropbox within the next twenty minutes or so, if anyone feels they need it.
Never let it be said that I lack the skill and techniques to avoid frightening creative activity at any cost
@Krupa, I see that with this and other assets in my dropbox shared folder, I'm getting notified that my dropbox is full. (because I use the free version). Can I delete this from my shared folder without deleting it from everyone else's ? I'm not sure how this works.
You don't need to even add it to your Dropbox. You can just stream the video!
I also have no space left but was able to watch without adding to folder
I’m never sure either really to be honest; there’s sometimes a dialog that pops up when you delete with the choice of whether to delete just for you, or everybody… right now it’s all going into Svetlovska’s file structure as I’ve had to step back a bit because my work life exploded a little…
@Stochastically : I’m not sure either. My understanding is that the access to the folder I am hosting gives everyone who is invited total power of it, which means if you delete it, you’ll delete everyone’s work. But maybe I’m wrong. You shouldn’t need to add the whole folder to yours, or delete anything from the folder entitled ‘AudioBus Collective’ (which is the one I set up with sub folders for the contributors inside, currently hosting everything I’ve received as a submission so far) anyway… If in doubt, send me your track, and don’t delete anything.
I'll try testing it at some point but for now I'll just leave things be.
I investigated further and you are correct. But I see there are two versions of the video in the assets folder. How about we remove the older version, the one with the timecode at the bottom? That will free up space in my Dropbox account.
Go for it!
Yeah sorry, I’m a proper spacehog so delete away, I can do it if it helps, I did think others might prefer it but they’ve had their chance 😁
Okay; I deleted it. Now I can use dropbox again. thanks!
