Roland Compact T8 Bassline - No dedicated ‘Accent’ knob. Can you still tweak it?

Liking the look of these and can’t wait to dive in when they become available again. I see you can buy them in the US but it’s 3-4 weeks here in the UK to wait.
Anyone know if the accent control is playable in a live situation? There is no knob for it. Do you have to preset it or what’s the options? The manual seems a bit unclear on this - it states that you can set the accents strength - but I’m wanting to be able to tweak it.

  • also curious about this .. even from Loopop demo (and he altways mentions all possible features) it looks accent can be only turned on / off but it's amount is fixed ..

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I already mentioned that the manual is unclear 🕵🏼‍♂️

Maybe it says in the manual

    didn't found anything in manual .. so i guesss it's just on/off no amount .. that's a pity ...

There’s always something. I’ll definitely pass until I can find out for sure. That will be totally bizarre if that is missing. 🤷🏻‍♂️🙁 I mean really??? That’s a massive chunk of the whole thing…… it’s got to be in the top five anyway 😃

  • @robosardine this seems to indicate that accent is indeed tweakable

  • Yes I thought that it might be too. I was concerned that it might just be a level to set before switching the Bass Accent ‘on’ or ‘off’. The chances are that you are right on this. I will want to know for sure before ordering one though.
I like the fact that it has - the ACB circuitry, the rechargeable battery and the tempo sync control.
    Cheers

cool ! thanks for sharing !

  • Should be coming soon, but I’ll tell you what it hasn’t got - that you might well want and be expecting - and that’s consecutive pattern play 😕That’s a biggie for me. I’ll be passing this time.

  • I suppose this would make it too much like a TB03 which still retail at big bucks.
When you think about it they could have just done a compact 303 with the rechargeable battery, sync in and consecutive pattern play but without………. ahh! what’s the point😄

  • Mine arrived earlier this week, it's a ton of fun and I've not even looked at the manual yet.

Can you let us know about the accent tweaking when you get the chance please? Also is there any up/down octave tuning?
    Cheers

  • @robosardine You can change the octave when programming the bassline in with these fellas. The method for adjusting the accent shown earlier in the thread does work, it took me a while to figure out if it was though as the values shown on the little LED display go from 0 to 255 and dialling it all the way to 255 takes a while.

  • What’s the justification for this kind of hardware these days when all of its functions can be easily replicated via software?

I’ve been asking myself that lately as I look over at my pile of hardware.

  • It is fun, but then even this tiny thing makes my studio considerably less portable.

Thanks man - and so you can’t flip the octave down/up live.. right?

  • If you mean the whole pattern, no. However, while playing and with the record button on, you can punch in a note up or down up to 3 octaves, but I'd imagine that would require better skill and timing than I have to be useful.

I have the J-6 and enjoy it. Class compliant audio and midi allows for hands on filter, envelope and delay manipulation. Chord progression sequencing is like a mini Scaler for iPhone, and the ACB Juno engine sounds great.
Maybe not for everyone but works for me as a compact playground…

  • Oh great, now I want that one too.
