  • Hi pbelgium,
Very nice creation, and rendition of this classic.
Your guitar sounds so full, the GS Mini is truly a versatile and excellent instrument.
Love the peacefulness of this version.
    Rene

  • Thanks @ReneAsologuitar the GS Mini is great. This rendition was inspired by the late Eva Cassidy - amazing singer.

This is Sting's "Field's of Gold":

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
    Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in fields of gold
    So she took her love
    For to gaze a while
    Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
    Among the fields of gold
    Will you stay with me?
    Will you be my love?
    Upon the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold
See the west wind move like a lover so
    Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
    Among the fields of gold
    I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold
Many years have passed since those summer days
    Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
    Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
    Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold

As @pbelgium mentioned... a great cover by the late Eva Cassidy:

I'm going to favorite this on SoundCloud so I keep hearing it right after some piece of shit upload I added. whenever "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" come on I remember how great and complete an acoustic guitar can be as a solo instrument.

  • Thanks so much @McD. That’s a beautiful version of Fields of Gold.

  • Your version is really special too.

  • Wonderful low key, quite intimate performance. I love how acoustic guitar takes you in different unexpected directions, 3 seconds in and thought of nick drake. Great work. As someone who’s, only weeks ago, decided to relearn the guitar after abandoning it as a kid/teenager, this is an inspiration.

  • This is quite beautiful. Are you familiar with Tommy Emmanuel? He would do something like this. I closed my eyes and enjoyed this. Very nice!

  • I went and listened to the Cyndi Lauper “Time After Time”
And I get your arrangement now.

  • Thanks, @McD @timforsyth (good luck with the sore fingers - it's worth it). At first, I tried this in the original key of C, but thought it would sound good in D with a low drop D tuning.

Thanks, @Paulieworld. I'm more of an electric player, but yes, Tommy Emmanuel is amazing - I really like his recent collaborations with Mike Dawes - they have taken acoustic guitar to new, dizzying heights.

  • Nicely done. I am curious if you ever listened to Tuck and Patti's cover? My wife and I are fans. I won tickets to see them in concert circa 1991 at the old Guthrie in Minneapolis. They were amazingly good and the venue was perfect.

    I love the song.

  • And the slower version that is a perfect mix of theater and song:

  • Oh I didn't know that version exists. Fantastic. Thank you.

  • Thanks for listening @Gribs. Hadn't seen the Tuck & Patti version - very cool!

@McD that's the video that inspired me - I even stole the step down to the relative minor in the intro. :#

Just to add to the collection, here's the sublime playing of Miles ...

  • I started to use it to match lyrics to your accomplishment for singing practice… the lower key suits me well since I lost my top full voice after throat surgery and need to stay under C4 I think it is. I’m a not quite tenor with the top 5 notes knocked off my range so staying within an octave helps.

I’ll learn the lyrics and sing it while I’m out walking to see if I can get more range back with regular practice. I’ve been using James Taylor tunes since he’s also a baritone-tenor cross but he’s got this low end I can’t fake without a serious case of strep throat.

  • Lovely track @pbelgium , enjoying playing along with that at the moment 😊

  • This sounds amazing and pure! Makes me want to pick up my guitar again and jam.
Played it so my family could hear it too, they all loved it.
    Congrats on this masterpiece!

  • @McD I posted a James Taylor tune a while back (demoing the Nembrini Acoustic Simulator).

Thanks @GeoTony - I've enabled downloads if you want to overdub and repost.

Thanks so much @Bob - I spent more time than usual arranging this one, so happy to be appreciated.
