IK New Amp Thing... why is no-one talking about this yet?
As usual I'm semi interested and semi disinterested in this, but I must say I thought there'd be a thread about it here by now. There's a lot of potential for lengthy paragraphs about all the ineffable and elusive qualities of amp tones, capacitor sniffing, AI vs NS*, whether IK's marketing policies are a tool of Satan, etc.

Jam points tho… ? Idk
I have read that website with the advertisement text, and I have no clue what the advantage could be of:
TONEX App lets you experience breakthrough AI Machine Modeling™ Tone Models anywhere
Could be my lack of imagination or my age (49)..... are the models of the amps created with AI, and/or is the signal chain compiled with AI? I don´t see it yet. I like simple the most anyway, just a single Nembrini amp or a THU rig.
At present my main curiosity is just how static each capture is. I imagine it's very? Sort of just becomes a preset player if that is the case which is not very useful. Hope I'm wrong.
@CapnWillie whoops I missed that. doesn't seem to have got much traction yet though, unlike the THU/Nembrini stuff.
I think the AI is just along the lines of what Kemper and the THU and other have been doing for a while... Maybe IK are playing catch up to that realm... Or it could be a new advance. Time will tell. Or won't tell, these things can be hard to pin down.

Anything to sell an iRig interface.
I went down the rabbit hole and watched a few of the videos on IK's Youtube channel. Towards the end they have A/B comparisons. I agreed with the people who noted that the modeled sounds lacked some of the high end sparkle and sounded a bit muffled. The sounds are close, but I could definitely hear a difference between the amps and modeled sound with the amps sounding noticeably better to my ear. The more I mix my own music, the more I'm aware of subtle differences in eq and overall tone. I don't want to be thrown in with the luddites who think the only "good" tone can come from a tube amp, but since they made the A/B comparison, that's my honest opinion.
…nothing cures Guitar Amp Fatigue (GAF) quite like buying a new Guitar
Wish they would update SampleTank to auv3. Doubt it will happen at this point.
I own almost every Ik Multimedia IPad app and a LOT of iap’s, including almost all the AmpliTube bundles, unfortunately they just didn’t seem to keep up or weren’t interested in the current state of the IPad , meaning not interested in AUV3 with AmpliTube so I pretty much started using Nembrini for my AUV3 guitar needs, same thing with Positive Grid, I own most of it and it’s great but no AUV3, so if I do use their stuff or AmpliTube it’s usually sending the audio to one of my desktop Daws, I’m interested in the new IK but hopefully it’s not a subscription
Too little, too late. I found all the amps I need by Nembrini. My marketing BS filter prevents me from believing that this effort by IK will be anything enough better for me to care. Would love t be wrong and have everyone wetting their pants when it comes out, but I bet I won't be wrong and the market will mainly be amp-sim collectors.
They are entering an extremely crowded field at this point.
I remember when Stark was the first AUv3 amp sim and the departed (in a strictly virtual sense) posted that it’s speaker emulation made it useless.
This new IK Multimedia app will need input from someone with that level of skill to help position this technology at that price.
i’m confused. what does it actually do?
From what I can tell it’s just another amp and pedal simulator. Maybe made with a newer (AI) modeling technology?
It looks really good. I just want to see iOS pricing, as I am iOS only.
Yeah. I think it's their entry into the "Modeling" category. Like Overloud's "Rig Libaries".
or the actual hardware modelers: Kemper, NeuralDSP, Line 6, Positive Grid.
Often there's a 3rd party that will taylor their rig analysis models to run in these modelers.
Compaines like BHS, Choptones, etc.
End of the day... they sound like our beloved Amp Sims with the knobs and FX stomp boxes
like Amplitube, TH-U, Nembrini's Amp apps, etc.
It’s true at the end of the day, as you put it.But I tell you the AmpliTube Fender packs just simply gave me months of enjoyment and Fender Tones that were tweaked to perfection. If this is anything like that was, and AuV3? I’m in.
