I was contemplating buying Gadget for desktop, I understand you can use the gadget instruments in others Daws? But you can’t use third party fx or instruments in Gadget correct ?
On the desktop the gadgets are normal plugins, VSTs I believe. You simply export your project from the iPad to dropbox then after loading the exported .als file, the DAW loads all the gadgets as VSTs and the projects sounds exactly as on the iPad. Then you can continue to do with the tracks whatever you want in your DAW. You can use any effects or other processing. The tracks of the exported Gadget project are then normal Midi tracks in your DAW. This works flawlessly with Ableton and Bitwig. Great stuff.
If you want to go beyond Gadgets capabilities only buy the Gadget plugin suite and use Ableton or Bitwig.
So if I exported a Gadget project as an Ableton project using midi would it load the same gadget vst’s into Ableton or would I have to load them 1 by 1 into Ableton?
They are loaded automatically. It is a normal Ableton project file that loads the plugins the project uses. It also loads the audio recordings of the tape recorder gadget.
Wow, that’s amazing I’m sold lol
