New DAW by Presonus

No AB or IAA as far as I can tell though...

  • Looks extremely minimal for $10. It has a slick looking interface but what does it really have over Multitrack DAW, for example?

Will be interesting to see if a few things like EQ, compressor, fade handles, etc will be added. If so, I would definitely give it another look.

  • For that price also need IAA and AudioBus support

  • I don't think that it's intended to be a general-purpose ios DAW. It's an app that goes along with a presonus hardware device. I could be wrong about this, but I think that the main overall goal is to get recordings from an ipad into the Studio One DAW. That's a legitimate goal for Studio One owners, but the app probably has limited interest to other people.

  • It's called "Capture" for a reason I guess.

It's just weird to see them charge $10 for an app with such a limited user target, if that is indeed their intention.

It's doubly weird for them to release the free 2-track version if they're not trying to attract pre-existing Presonus users.

  • It is the same as the software that comes with the studio live mixer, which has almost no setup- the tracks correspond to whatever you have going on in the mixer. The intent is to have a recorder taking almost no resources so it is fairly crash proof in a mix environment. In iOS, I see it works with any interface, not just presonus. Anyway, if you are looking to capture 32 channels to iPad through a studio live (or behringer x32, something in that vein) it probably makes more sense than if you're using it as a production environment. If you already have mtdaw with the extra tracks it probably serves you less of a purpose.

  • $10 is a good price if you're doing stuff like @mrufino1 says and an especially good price if you already use (and intend to finish with) Studio One. I'd pay 10 bucks to not deal with transfer hassles.

And no matter what it's newsworthy that another big existing audio company is showing up on iOS with more than a gadget.
